How can the same size Cortez for so different?

I picked these for my wife. The color is a true dark or chocolate on the swoosh and heel tab. This is her second pair of Cortez, the first pair is suede and fit well, this pair is leather and felt and looked narrower than the suede pair. They were returned.

Cute but made for skinny feet

Really narrow in the toe box. Loved the look but had to return. Not super cushion-y either. More of a fashion shoe.
