The Inspiration for the Hit New Movie
When I saw the trailer for the movie adaption, I knew I had to pick this book up before I saw it. And while there are a lot of differences between this book and the movie, I'm happy to say that both are extremely entertaining and worthwhile experiences. Ballister and Nimona's have an amazing dynamic, with Ballister's more calculated and reserved demeanor making for a great contrast with Nimona's impulsive energy. I'm a sucker for stories about found family, and their relationship is the heart and soul of both versions of the story. I also enjoyed the relationship between Balister and Ambrosious. How both feel betrayed by the other, but still can't help but care for the other in some way. For readers looking for a fun read with some strong LGBTQ+ characters and themes, definitely give this book a chance.

Witty, Adorable, and So Much More Than I Expected
This is the story of Nimona who convinces one of the villains, Lord Ballister, to let her be his sidekick. The type A, meticulous planner Lord Ballister is in over his head accepting this chaotic, impulsive girl as his sidekick. This was adorable and completely unexpected. I went in expecting a cute graphic novel (which is what I got), but it was even more than that with layered plots and characters (and way more tears than I bargained for at the end!).
