Zipper on the OUTSIDE

These boot had the silhouette I've been looking for. They fit nicely on small calves. However, I put them on the wrong foot at first because the zipper is on the OUTSIDE of the boot? Why? That is the exact opposite of the way it should be. Also note, these are not real leather. The heel is metallic black. Don't love it, but not a deal breaker. Not sure if I will keep these. The zipper on the outside of the leg is just off putting.
