This one took me by surprise. I loved the unique magic system and the plot. I feel in love with the characters, especially with Jespyr. Such a fantastic read.

Incredible magic system
This book took me a little bit to get into, and it is basically as creepy as I can go, but I ended up loving it! Elspeth is a fantastic FMC who has to hide many truths about herself in a world where being infected is a death sentence. She has a strange magic she doesn't understand and a nightmare living in her head. Raevyn, the Captain of the Destriers, also has many secrets, and is a great morally gray MMC. I also really liked the magic system; it was very cool and different from anything else I've read!

Magic, terrible, wonderful, delightful, addicting
Hooked within 2 pages. I smiled, I laughed out loud, I felt rage, and sadness. I honestly didn't think I'd love this like I do, and every moment lost in the pages dug into the depths of being, leaving me craving more

A Must Read!
I could not put this book down. It has been a long time since I've been sucked into a storyline that I didn't want to leave! Well written with characters you cry and cheer for, this is a must read for Fantasy genre readers!

Desperately Disappointing
I cannot believe how many people gave this a five star review... I like the "vibe" of the book and I see what the author was going for in terms of tone. The amount of exposition is not nearly enough to form a genuine attachment to the characters. Speaking of characters, it was hard for me to form any type of emotional connection to them. Any exposition or information about them was told explicitly. There are some moments where I could tell they were supposed to be "hard hitting" but the characters were so flat that I actually did not care. There's so much more wrong with this book, but on the upside I got to learn a bunch of tree names.

Surprise Favorite Read
I work at a BN and within the span of two weeks, I had 3 people come in to buy the sequel, all saying the same thing: "I finished the first last night." In a post-Iron Flame reading slump, I decided to jump in and see what all the fuss was about. Not disappointed in the slightest because the world, the characters and magic system had me enraptured until I was done with the series. I recommend this book to anyone I can, especially those looking for an original concept fantasy book with a well balanced plate of character development, plot, and magic.

Your Next Gothic Fantasy
I will never stop recommending this book. A great gothic fantasy novel set in a cursed kingdom where magic is both powerful and dangerous. The unique card-based magic system and eerie forest setting created a tense and immersive mood. I was kept engaged through its slow-burn suspense. I’m so excited to read Two Twisted Crowns!
