Gorgeous photos!

This baking book comes from the Ovenly bakery in NYC. It is an updated edition from the original which was published in 2014. What struck me first were the gorgeous photos, not only of the finished products, but several of the recipes have photos of some of the steps such as creating the dough or making a pie lattice. Tips such as how to get the bottom of a pie crust crispy and notes on processes such as freezing and frying are clearly highlighted. Many recipes allow the baker to “Get Creative” by offering options for different fillings, additions, etc. There are several gluten-free options but only one vegan option (a chocolate chip cookie). Unique recipes that call for ingredients one wouldn’t necessarily put together (Mustard Spice Cookies anyone?) are offered. The tips and creative options make this cookbook perfect for both the new and experienced baker. Thank you Park Row Books for the opportunity to review this book.
