Well-made, but not what I was expecting

This is a great product but... I was hoping it would be more of a "feather bed" type thing to lessen the impact of a mattress that was a little too firm.That's not exactly what it is, but perhaps my fault for not reading more closely. This is more of an upgraded mattress pad that just fits on the top, not down the sides. All that said, this is a good quality product. I was especially pleased with the strong elastic straps that keep it in place. It appears to be well made. The the box-quilting to keep the stuffing in place is spot on. It did NOT have that new product smell so common with new bedding products. I feel like this was a good purchase, even if not quite what I was expecting.
