A missed opportunity

I was very excited when I began this book, the 14th in the Michael Bennett series. Bennett, the NYC cop with 10 kids, heads to Washington D.C. to investigate the disappearance of his good friend and former partner Emily Parker. Do you know who else lives in Washington D.C.? Alex Cross, Patterson's other famous detective. I read both series, I love both series, and I have thought for a long time that the two men should be brought together to solve a case. So, when Bennett heads to D.C. in this book, I thought for sure Cross would appear. HE DOES NOT! When I realized that a meeting was not going to happen, I lost interest in the story. I am giving the book only 3 stars, for the travesty of a missed opportunity.
