From a dazzlingly talented young writer, a haunting and original supernatural romance in the vein of TWILIGHT. For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human . . . until the cold makes him shift back again. Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human—or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever. ;Maggie Stiefvater is the #1 NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author of the novels SHIVER, LINGER, and FOREVER. Great characters!

I really enjoyed Stiefvater’s Raven Cycle series and decided to read Shiver. The writing is quite different and I didn’t find it as compelling as the Raven Cycle series. But I liked the relationship between Grace and Sam. And the family like relationship between Sam and the werewolves in Beck’s werewolf pack. I’ll continue reading the series to see what happens next.

Loved this book

This book got me through the darkest winter of the COVID pandemic, 2020. The story is beautifully written, lots of descriptive prose that brings the setting to life. Before I read this, I'd always disliked the romance parts in YA fiction because they never seemed believable to me-- too focused on the physical attraction that you get to see where the real love is. Not so with this book. The characters set a positive example for what love really is-- the kind I want to have one day. You should totally read the Raven boys too, but this book is still way above the bar compared to a lot of YA fiction.
