Cute sandal but size down

I usually wear an 8 or 9 in Skechers (wish they had .5 sizes). I ordered a 9 and it was way too large. This happens with Skechers sometimes, I can never tell which size to order for the right fit. I debated whether to exchange for an 8, but I decided to return them. The footbed height is higher than I'm used to for these types of shoes and is almost too cushy, like too much memory foam on a mattress. I was worried about balance issues. Pics show these sandals next to a Skechers Reggae sandal, both are size 9. I have a relatively wide foot but can wear a 9R, so if you're feet are narrow, these might not be for you.

pretty sandals

They are pretty but they sweat and are comfortable to walk on.
