Great upgrade over Zeiss 55/1.8ZA

I am looking for the higher quality lens to substitute with my 10 years old Zeiss 55mm f1.8ZA, and this is my choice. It is a balanced choice between weight and the qualities. The build is rugged and it has pretty good weather seal. The image rendering is top notch with minimal ghosting and flair. The bokeh and sun stars, however, are average for my taste. Still, I will recommend this product for the 50mm lens in this price range.

great lens!

I bought this about a month ago and I am so happy I did. The color rendering and sharpness are near perfect, focus is super fast and quiet. It is light and a great walk around lens for street photography and portraits.

Really happy with it

My first GM and decided to go with the 50mm 1.4 over the 1.2, i tested it in Antigua Guatemala, and man this lens is sweet!

Everything you’d expect

I’ve only used this lens on the Sony FX3 and from this, you will achieve a very cinematic look, especially if adding an ND filter. Fantastic lens with a very smooth look at an affordable price.

This is a wonderful lens.

It focuses fast and matches my 35mm G Master lens. It is definitely my preferred focal length. I also love that my 35, 50 and 85 all use the same filter size.
