Stargazing by Jen Wang
Stargazing is a heartwarming middle-grade graphic novel in the spirit of Real Friends and El Deafo, from New York Times bestselling author-illustrator Jen Wang. Moon is everything Christine isn't. She's confident, impulsive, artistic and though they both grew up in the same Chinese-American suburb, Moon is somehow unlike anyone Christine has ever known. But after Moon moves in next door, these unlikely friends are soon best friends, sharing their favorite music videos and painting their toenails when Christine's strict parents aren't around. Moon even tells Christine her deepest secret: that she has visions, sometimes, of celestial beings who speak to her from the stars. Who reassure her that earth isn't where she really belongs. Moon's visions have an all-too-earthly root, however, and soon Christine's best friend is in the hospital, fighting for her life. Can Christine be the friend Moon needs, now, when the sky is falling? Jen Wang draws on her childhood to paint a deeply personal yet wholly relatable friendship story that's at turns joyful, heart-wrenching, and full of hope.

A great graphic novel!
From dancing to new music to signing up for the school talent show, Christine discovers new interests when she becomes friends with Moon. While her parents expectations remain as strict as ever, Christine must decide for herself who she wants to be - and what kind of friend she will be. I loved watching Christine begin to take agency in her life, and the reminder of just how important friendships are as we continue to grow. Great for fans of Raina Telgemeier and the Best Friends series by Shannon Hale.

Sweet and honest story
It such a sweet, honest and beautiful story from a graphic novel! Jen Wang successfully brought me into smile all the way while I’m reading this book. The story is about ; how to make friends, how to find what you actually want, how to recognize a special feelings between friends (i.e jealousy, protection, favorite person). And this happened between Christine and Moon, who happened become friends, best friends, until when Moon made Christine felt a little bit jealous and left behind from other friends, everything around them to all changed and they’re relationship went off. This is a good book for any Middle-grade readers (even me as a parent), it gives inspiration and motivation for those who still looking what they really want in their youth, learn to be honest to your friend though sometimes it’s hard to do it, there were good lessons that we can learn from Christine and Moon.

I found this graphic novel nuanced and lovely!
What a wonderful middle grade graphic novel. This is a fictional story, but based on the author’s real life experience of being diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was six years old. It provides the reader with an important opportunity to think about neurodiversity and childhood.
