Narrow shoes on top

These shoes are really cute but I think Steve Madden has gotten narrower and narrower by the balls of my feet. The width was fine, my toes felt quite comfy inside, but the top line of these shoes was digging into the top of my foot and I was in pretty serious pain by the end of the day. None of my older Maddens fit like this, and I pretty much wear Steve Madden shoes every day. I’m hoping they will become less painful as they break in, but I’ve had many other pairs that I’ve been completely comfortable in straight out of the box. I have already sized up from 6 1/2 to 7, which has made the heel very loose on my foot. I received a ton of compliments about them and I think they dress up and work with jeans too. They would be perfect if they weren’t so tight.
