Grandson wanted to learn chess so we got him this set as it included checkers too ( in case chess doesn't pan out.

Returned due to defect

The board and pieces seem nice enough but we never played the game. When my kids tried to remove the pieces from their felt-lined holder the material disintegrated and got all over hands and the pieces. We returned.

Poor quality

Black powder like stuff on chess pieces. Created a mess. Pieces have a cheap look and feel. Poor quality and worse quality control.

Great board game

We love this board game. Playing chess and checkers are a tradition in our family. We play those at all our gatherings. This board is great, cause you can play chess and also backgammon on it. The board is wood made, and the quality is good. This board game is for you if you like chess or backgommon.

Quality board

Very impressed by the quality of both board and pieces. It’s also lightweight which makes it easy to travel work and store in high up places of the closet. We’ve already spent several hours teaching our kiddos their first games of checkers and chess. We highly recommend grabbing one too.
