Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner is formulated to target oily and acne-prone skin. It immediately melts from a treatment gel to a water toner as it is massaged into the skin. Bentonite clay mattifies excess oil while visibly reducing pore size. Marshmallow and green tea soothe and diminish the look of redness for a calmer-feeling complexion, while cucumber and witch hazel extracts tone and tighten. Manuka (a relative of tea tree oil), in conjunction with black cumin and magnolia bark extracts, provides purifying properties to balance oily and problem skin conditions while promoting a visibly improved, clearer, smoother, shine-free complexion. Skin is mattified and prepped for further skin care or color application. It also helps to keep foundation set all day.

    • After cleansing with Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser or Blue Moon Cleansing Balm, apply Martian as needed to dry skin using fingers or a cotton pad

Core to my routine

I use it twice a day and the smell was weird at first but I'm totally used to it and think it's worth it. Please don't discontinue. And if you are going to discontinue, don't leave those that built a routine around your suggestions hanging without a good replacement

Best toner/primer! PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!

I got this like 2 years ago and it is the only thing that works for me primer-wise before makeup as someone with acne-prone, combination but slightly more oily skin. The formulation of these ingredients in a gel but somehow incorporating the bentonite clay is something that no other product on the market has replicated. Please PLEASE bring it back - I agree with another review that said find a way to reformulate it with a different scent if that’s the reason production has stopped, just keep the main ingredients from the original!!!

Stinky Magic

It stinks like heck but only for the first few days. By then, you'll have the best case of Stockholm Syndrome ever and will never be without it. It literally healed my angry acne (I pick at it a lot) over a few days. I'm absolutely in LOVE with my stinky, magical Martian.

Please don’t discontinue this!!!

Please don’t discontinue this! I already see it’s not included in the acne kit and on the verge of being discontinued. This is the only thing that keeps face my matte and acne free in the brutal gulf coast summers with 100 degree temperatures and 90% humidity. The smell is ok to me, not sure why people are getting worked up over it lol. It’s like I walked into an Indonesia market with the smell of lemongrass, medicinal herbs, and other unfamiliar smells surrounding me…. different, not bad. My makeup and sunscreen actually stays in place when using this! This unexpectedly became my favorite Sunday Riley product. I beg you, please don’t discontinue it. Reformulate it if you must to make a different scent if that’s what’s bothering most people.

It's worth the horrible smell!

I know it smells like feet, but my skin has never been better than when I used this product. It ran out so I switched to something else, and I started breaking out again. I've used soooo many expensive toners, and this one is by far the best. I hope they can fix the smell issue, and they don't discontinue this!!

They’re not lying

Ok soooooo it feels good going on, very cooling and refreshing! The smell is rotten feet, like decaying. I would feel bad even giving to a friend because it’s that bad. I absolutely won’t repurchase.

Horrible Smell

I just purchased Martian for the first time and used it this morning. While the product did seem to work on my oily skin, the smell was horrible (as others have reported below). Unfortunately, I didn't read the reviews before I purchased. I use at least 4-5 Sunday Riley products daily and wanted to love this, but I couldn't get past the smell. I contacted CS and am returning the product. They said it does have a "peculiar" smell. It honestly smelled old/spoiled/rancid. Total bummer. Scents don't usually bother me. But it's seriously bad!! :(
