Amazing read but...
Overall it's a fantastic book for my Mythology collection. I was on a grip hold with the story of Creation and its pages didn't let go. This also includes reading more in depth with well known God's and Goddesses too. Per reviews who are put off by the term 'Heathens' please note readers, your stepping into the Old World of history and those who follow a spiritual path called 'Heathenry'. Please don't be discouraged believing one term we know today that is meant for something different. Neo-Paganism, Heathenry being part of a branch, dates to origins in Latin. Taking a journey through Germanic Lore is a grand adventure, buckle up. My but, I was a bit disappointed how very little Yggdrasil and Futhark Runes are touched upon. Yggdrasil connects all 9 worlds standing for a huge purpose. Odins story how he gained the Futhark Runes and a little more Lore touched upon would have been better suited, especially if someone is just starting out learning Nordic Lore. Futhark Runes and Yggradasil do go hand n hand after all. My only sigh. Regardless, fantastic edition with a beautiful look.

Extremely biased
I bought this book to explore other cultures' beliefs. The author continuously refers to the people as "heathens." Yes, from a Christian standpoint, the Northmen were heathens. But are Christians not considered heathens to Muslims? The author continuously makes fun of how ignorant the heathens were without understanding that these were people and they were trying to make sense of the world around them. To call them ignorant is to call every other culture that has ever existed ignorant because the blatant fact of the matter is that we don't know what comes after. As a historian, an anthropologist, and in general, a responsible human being, the author should tell these stories from the peoples' perspective and not from a person blinded by their own hubris a thousand years later. I do not recommend this book and I do believe that it will be going in the garbage because I do not wish for the rest of society to read this book. It was a major disappointment and may whatever heathen God that's in charge of bad books take pity on her soul.

Amazing design and illustrations!
The different shades of brown and gold on this cover are so beautiful and intricate. It looks amazing with my other mythological books in the B&N classics collection! It contains a very nice, informative introduction and plenty of pictures throughout. These pages are a lot thicker and sturdier than a lot of the B&N classics, too. If you’re on the fence about whether to buy this collection of Norse Mythology, I say go for it!
