Resurrecting a misfunctioning app on my TCL TV.

So thankful that Kim was able to help me regain an app that seemed to stop working. She was so helpful guiding me through the steps in determining that my app was not working and how to reload it. She was very patient waiting for me to input the information needed to restart the app. I am a happy camper.

Great for Dorms! Lacking in a few features

In this review; peak brightness, color accuracy, viewing angles, screen material and general usability. I bought this TV back in November for a college dorm, and has worked brilliantly. There are a few tidbits here and there, which I am going to go over, that the more pedantic users might find annoying. For me, being a color accuracy and sound freak, I like to ensure that my TV picture quality is top-notch. When it comes to color accuracy on this TV, it gets the job done decently. The settings are quite simple, not allowing for a full in-depth tune, and may require some tweaking here in there to ensure perfect picture quality. One thing you may notice is that in bright rooms, the peak brightness, or the nit brightness, is rather lacking. It looks to be around 500 nits brightness with HDR content. This may be a no go for some users. The lower the brightness, the less the colors will really pop out of the screen. With HDR content, when viewing in a dark room, the blacks tend to bleed, especially if you have amped up the color to "dolby vision" standards (by doing so, faces and pictures in movies can seem like you are looking through a window rather than a screen). This is noticeable in darker hair, or in dark rooms that require a lot of detail. Another thing that might throw people off is that when switching from SDR to HDR, the screen turns off for about 1 to 2 seconds, but in those one to two seconds, content and information can be lost during a video. This I see all the time using YouTube on Apple TV where they match the content, with the video continuing to "play" despite the lack of image. Continuing with the picture, the viewing angle is not specified in the manual. I find the best viewing angle to be slightly down, with the TV sitting above your eye level. Off axis viewing angles can cause color loss on the far side of the TV. Another thing I might add, is when, using this TV as a monitor, HDR doesn't seem to be the best move. Using a MacBook, the HDR really darkens the display, messes with the colors, and doesn't look like a true second monitor. You want to use SDR, standard definition, for monitoring to achieve one to one color. One thing that I do wish to emphasize is that the TV screen itself does not feel like the advertised "glass". I have this TV sat on a desk and utilize it as a monitor and a home theater for a dorm room. After maybe two months, I noticed a slight scratch on my TV and I have been very careful with how I treat it. If this was a glass scratch, it would be noticeable to fingernails (one where your finger would stop at the scratch, aka its not just a surface scratch), and would have to have been made by an object with a hardness of about a Mohs 7 (thanks JerryRigEverything). What's great about this TV is the HDMI ports. It has three regular HDMI ports and one eArc HDMI port. This is great. I find myself using a FireStick, an Apple TV, and an HDMI to my computer. I also have a eArc sound bar hooked up. The ability to have ethernet directly into the TV is also a plus, as well as the options for sound inputs. When using as a monitor though, do realize that the picture will view more as 1080p as the pixel density is meant for further viewing (about 4 - 6ft) and not closer viewing (about 2 ft).

Defective

I brought this TV last month in October and before a Month was out it wouldn't Power on, sadly I had to Return it. But my other TCL Google TV is working Fantastic and I absolutely Love it.

Great picture

The picture is crisp and vibrant. The only downside is the speakers, they are horrible. But that unfortunately is to be expected with most TVs. The Roku interface is user friendly.
