Ten top ideas in the book
1. Never outshine the master: Always make sure to keep a low profile and avoid drawing too much attention to yourself, as it can lead to resentment and jealousy from those in power. 2. Never put too much trust in friends, learn how to use enemies: Friends can be fickle, while enemies can provide valuable information and opportunities. 3. Conceal your intentions: Keep your true intentions and goals hidden, as they can be used against you if revealed. 4. Always say less than necessary: Speak only when necessary, and keep your words and actions measured and controlled. 5. Play on people's need to believe to create a cult-like following: People are often willing to believe in something greater than themselves, and can be easily manipulated into following a charismatic leader. 6. Appear weak when you are strong: By appearing weak or vulnerable, you can lure your opponents into a false sense of security, and then strike when they least expect it. 7. Never let the enemy know what you're thinking: Keep your thoughts and plans hidden, as revealing them can give your opponents an advantage. 8. Control the options: By controlling the options and information available to others, you can manipulate them into making decisions that are favorable to you. 9. Play on emotions: Use emotions to your advantage, by manipulating people's fear, greed, and desire for power. 10. Master the art of timing: Timing is everything, and knowing when to act or speak can be the difference between success and failure.

Don’t walk. Run from this for tips to succeed.
Absolutely the worst piece of writing I have ever been exposed to (comes in second to the KKK flyers/trash mail left on our doorstep unsolicited in Southern Georgia when I was a kid and resulted in my parents fleeing the region to get us to a more humane and sensible environment.). If you are interested in a manual about how to be a horrible person and live a self indulgent, self servicing and ignorant life, this is the book for you. Karma is real. Treating others well and lifting others pays off. I doubt any truly successful people followed these “Laws” from the book Power. Astoundingly horrible and ridiculous content.

Powerful Knowledgeable Read
Being the average high school student who only reads books when instructed to. The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene is by far the best book I’ve read in my 4 years of school. It talks manipulating those around you, outwitting, outsmarting and using those same people without them even knowing it. The laws talked about range from the average “keep your friends close, but your enemies closer” and lesser known ones such as the “surrender tactic: transform weakness into power.” This book is designed in a way that you can read from law 1 all the way through to law 48, or you can pick and choose the laws that interest you the most. This is a powerful book, to the point where the Utah State Prison had to ban it entirely so their prisoners could not get their hands on it. Before you start the book, author Robert Greene gives you what is equivalent to a disclaimer, a word of warning. This book should not be used for personal power or gain, because by doing so you risk the chance of becoming power hungry. This is not a one time read book, you have to read it multiple times with each time paying closer attention to each law.

Interesting book!
I recently purchased this book, and I am glad I did. This book is quite cynical when it comes to human beings and human nature. I think this book is a good book to read. There are darker aspects to some of the information provided.
