wow, what an ending!

likes: -quiet sequel: i can understand why some would not enjoy this as much as it's predecessor. THTK starts off w/ a bang in the first chapter and is a fast paced story of court intrigue & an immortal's lovers quarrel. this, however, is a much more "soft" look into the repercussions of the ending of THTK. it very much feels like a novella and in the best way possible. -the endingas i mentioned, this is a more quiet story than THTK, but the last 10% GUTTED ME. i immediately re-listened to the last few paragraphs and teared up all over again. it is THAT good. -the MC, Oree: once, again NKJ crafts a vulnerable, empathetic, headstrong female character. she has some similar qualities to Yeine, but utilizes those qualities in ways different than her. she also has a visual impairment, but i cannot speak on that representation. -beginnings of a redemption arc: this should speak for itself. -expands on mythology: being a sequel, it is no surprise that we learn more about Itempas and his relationship w/ Nahadoth and Enefa. we also get to know a few goldings throughout this book which i also very much enjoyed. dislikes: honestly, i don't have much to discuss. the only thing that i can say is that since it is more "quiet" that you may feel like it is suffering from "middle book syndrome", but i can promise that it is not!
