This was probably my least favorite book I’ve ever read. None of the characters were likable. The story was choppy and confusing. I am literally SHOOK that there is a sequel. 0/10 do not recommend. Someone pleaseeeeee tell me what I’m missing…

Worth it but long way to get there
This book is really boring, really slow and really really strange for the first 75% of it but then the ending has a bunch of plot twists and it’s shocking and really good, if you can get through the beginning the ending is worth it...... I think?

Don't recommend.
I read this book until I was midway through it. I just couldn't get invested in this story. It's not a book that I would recommend.

Great book
Really enjoyed the twists and turns in this one. Lots of people involved so it takes a minute to follow along but well worth it in the end.

Didn't live up to the hype for me
I read this hoping it would be a good pick for my book club. They like thrillers, and this sounded suitably creepy, with lots to unpack. When she turns 25, Libby discovers her backstory and inherits an abandoned mansion in a fashionable London neighborhood. The house is worth millions, but more interesting than that is that her parents allegedly died in a suicide pact with a stranger. Excellent premise and definitely unsettling (Trigger Warnings for sexual assault and child abuse), but I wasn’t engaged in any character’s story, and the twist(s) were a bit dull. I’m an outlier with this opinion, according to Goodreads and Bookstagram.

The Family Upstairs
So many narrators telling little bits of the story, until the end of the book and all stories merge into one tragic tale. Libby receives a letter on her 25th birthday from English solicitors informing her that she is the owner of a house on Cheyne Walk, a prestigious address. Now begins Libby’s journey to claim the house and learn about her parents. Libby, an abandoned baby in the Cheyne Walk house grew up with adoptive parents. Lucy enters her depressing narrative about living on the streets of France with her two children and trying to get back to England and the Cheyne Walk house. But why? Henry jumps into the picture, explaining many areas of what has happened in the house on Cheyne Walk, but he is only a young boy when he begins his tale. So many red herrings in the story that the reader goes up and down the roller coaster afraid of what might happen next. A fun story.
