"This was why I didn’t leave the house. Too many people and things. I wanted to hiss at the sun and go back to sleep." Two years after losing her fiancé, Sloan Monroe still can't seem to get her life back on track. But one trouble-making pup with a "take me home" look in his eyes is about to change everything. With her new pet by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker's owner reaches out. He's a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back. Well, Sloan's not about to give up her dog without a fight. But what if this Jason guy really loves Tucker? As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can't deny a connection. Jason is hot and nice and funny. There's no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? "But my job is to help you with your crazy. Make you the best, most magnificent crazy you can be." 4 solid stars. I think Abby Jimenez might be becoming a favorite. The two I've read thus far have been winners. With this one, there was a lot to love between Sloan and Kristen (who are two extremely amazing friends), Sloan and Tucker (I mean...puppy), Sloan and Jason (who are so sweet together it's almost a toothache of envy), and Sloan and Jason's family (who remind me a lot of my partner's family), and Zane (I want a personal assistant and I want it to be Zane). Essentially, we got a LOT OF LOVING and I am absolutely here for all the support that this portrays. "This was just a season, and there’s beauty in all seasons. Even if you are looking forward to the next one. The beginning of the novel is sweet, entertaining, and swoony. It's literally unreal how great they are and how attentive that Jason is (like...really unreal...but it's so unreal that you want him to be a real book boyfriend, ya know?). "You can’t control the bad things that happen to you. All you can do is decide how much of you you’re going to let them take." The middle is when we get to the start of the challenges as Sloan and Jason try tackling the over consuming and challenging tour plan. I loved what felt like a totally realistic set of problems. I also really enjoyed the struggle that Sloan went through, the break to recover, and the perspective change to create new opportunities that Sloan came up with. "I want everything with you." The reason this book didn't quite make it to 5 stars is because of the angst and melodrama at the end. I do think it was a little much and the resolution could have happened much sooner but it did resolve well. "You think you know what love looks like. You think the fairy tales and the romantic movies prepare you. And then you finally, really truly find it and you realize you never knew a thing about it until her. She was every love song I’ve never been good enough to write." And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the coolest playlist presented at the beginning of each chapter. The amazing songs connected perfectly with the chapter’s contents. Recommended for the rom-com lovers. Everyone needs a Jason.

I found myself laughing aloud
I just love Abby Jimenez’s writing style and how she just sucks you into her story and the characters. They feel so real and she adds so much humor. I found myself laughing aloud many times throughout The Happy Ever After Playlist. It also touched on a serious subject, complicated grief, with Sloan’s story. She used the real experiences of her good friend and brought it to life in Sloan. The chemistry between Sloan and Jason was off the charts and I loved the way Tucker was such an important part of the story. I would definitely recommend.

complicated grief
This book deals with complicated grief and isn’t as much of a rom/com as I thought going in. After the Friendship Zone this one took me a very long time to pick up and I’m not sure I was quite ready for it.

Amazing and Intriguing Book!!!
This book was probably one of the best books I've read so far!! I loved and hated all the plot twists that happened, especially the part when Jason told Sloan he cheated when he really didn't- like I think I died a little when I read that lol. I loved the characters and their personality. I loved the relationship between Sloan and Jason, with Sloan dealing with the grief of Brandon and Jason dealing with his music career ( and Lola ) . This was truly a 5 star book taking you through a roller coaster of emotions.

3.5 out of 5
I read THE FRIEND ZONE and loved it so naturally I had to continue on in the series. Little did I know that AJ wrote this book before THE FRIEND ZONE then decided to write it as a prequel to this one. So cool! Continuing Sloan’s story was important. She was left at the end of the last book with almost no closure (though she wasn’t exactly a MC) and as a reader, I wanted to see her win. Insert Tucker lol. It starts out with Tucker falling into her lap (literally) and then meeting his owner Jason, who she already knows but doesn’t know that she knows. The banter between them is not quite as good as THE FRIEND ZONE but I just loved Kristen’s lack of filter and crudeness. The climax was good in terms of entertainment, but not in any way realistic. I mean come on no man or woman would do that….let’s be honest. I did like the romance part of the book, but for me the self-discovery part was top tier. Sloan had to find herself after Brandon and though she did that after falling for Jason, it still took courage to go after the things she loved while she had Brandon. I loved those parts of the book way more than the romance parts. Also, I may have shed a few tears during the epilogue because it ended in the SWEETEST WAY POSSIBLE! Kind sad book #3 in the series doesn’t continue with Kristen and Sloan, but you bet I will still read it.

Sloan&Jason finding their happily ever after
Sloan was trying to move forward in life following the death of her fiancé, Brandon. Once upon a time, Sloan had envisioned her life with Brandon as a married couple, having kids, and living next door to her best friend, Kristen and her husband, Josh. Until one day everything changed when Brandon suffered critical injuries due to a motorcycle accident. Following the events from the first book, “The Friend Zone”, the story picks up two year later showing Sloan still mourning the loss of Brandon, but how a random dog who jumped into her car set in motion of changing her life, and putting her in contact with a man named, Jason. The last thing that Sloan ever imagined happening was randomly getting stuck with a dog, especially one who jumped into her car. With Tucker (dog’s name), he played as a catalyst of change in Sloan’s life. The routine of taking care of Tucker allowed for Sloan to have some needed structure in her life after losing Brandon, and Tucker being a goofy yet sweet dog brought much needed happiness to Sloan’s life. Seemed like Sloan found herself with a forever furry friend, until Tucker’s owner, Jason called asking for his dog back. Jason was a musician working in Australia for the time being and had no idea that Tucker had gotten lost until Sloan left him various messages trying to get into contact with him. Once Jason got in touch in Sloan it went from trying to convince Sloan that Jason wanted his dog back to daily text messages and phone calls about anything and everything. Both Jason and Sloan looked forward to their conversations together and equally cared a lot about Tucker. For Sloan not only had Tucker brought her joy, but she found herself enjoying Jason’s daily question or picture game that he came up with. For Jason, he hadn’t experienced this type of lightheartedness in a while, and it was all thanks to Sloan. In a way, both Sloan and Jason found each other at an unlikely time, but with Tucker it created an opportunity for them to meet via phone calls and messages. Once Jason and Sloan met in person, they not only got to spend time together, but really cement their feelings with one another. I really loved how Jason was Sloan from remembering little things she mentioned about herself to the little surprise of flower bouquet when she took Tucker to get groomed at PetSmart. Safe to say that Jason was all aboard with wanting Sloan all to himself. Sloan couldn’t help, but feel like Jason brought a renewed feeling to her that she hadn’t felt since Brandon passed away. There were times that Sloan still struggled with the memories of Brandon, but Jason was always so patient and understanding with Sloan. In Jason’s eyes, Sloan was worth everything, she brought happiness to his life, he couldn’t help but tell his family about her, and loved how obsessed she was with Tucker. Jason and Sloan were perfect for each other, and just seeing them together on their dates and even spending time with Kristen and Josh was sweet and fun. For the first time in what felt like a long time, Sloan was making strides to regaining parts of her former self, and moving forward to a fresh start that included Jason. A big thing that Jason and Sloan faced throughout the book was the sacrifices and lessons they learned when they officially got together. From moving forward with Jason to the long days and months at tour, to even crazy Lola trying to start up crazy drama with Jason, there was a lot of obstacles and things the couple were up against. I will say that despite some issues occurring in the book, I liked how Sloan and Jason communicated with each other. Even when things got hard, Sloan and Jason knew how the other was feeling or something was off, spoke to the level of connection they had. For sure once Jason and Sloan were on tour together, it put more pressure on their relationship and even their well-being. Jason saw that Sloan wasn’t use to being on tour and instead took the initiative to make sure she got time to rest and regain her strength as opposed to sticking around just waiting around for Jason. Wow I’m starting to see that when it comes to Abby Jimenez’s books, not only does she give you all the romance you could want, but also packs a punch with the emotional moments too! Sloan had quite the journey over the course of this book. From working through her grief, meeting and falling in love with Jason, to getting back to what she loved, it was a lot. Sloan’s growth was inspiring and seeing her get back to her creative mindset was nice, but also seeing her with Jason was sweet and loving. Jason was the most patient, thoughtful, and thoughtful man. When it came to Sloan, Jason was all about making sure she got the life she wanted. Despite some minor setbacks and a little bit of heartbreak, Sloan and Jason managed to find their way back to each other and have their happily ever after. The epilogue was all kinds of wholesome and heartwarming moments that included Josh and Kristen! With each book I read by Abby, I fall in love with each of the characters stories, and I’m immersed into the story. Definitely felt like I was put in the ringer in this story, but that’s just me feeling sensitive since I got a bit protective over Sloan. Anyways, another great story, and I loved Sloan and Jason!

Fun, emotional, beautiful and romantic!
I LOVED this book! It is going to be my top 3 of all Romance/Rom-Coms I have ever read. It is fun, emotional, beautiful, and so romantic. It usually takes me some time (a couple of chapters at the beginning) to start enjoying the story, but I was so drawn to the story from the beginning! And that's a really good sign because all the great books are that way. I first checked out audio book from library, but when I was at 20% of the book, I had to stop it and BUY this book, because I KNEW it would be a great book and I wanted to keep it as my treasure. The tempo of this book is great. It was never a dull and boring scenes that I usually want to fast read on other books. It is light and fun, and at the same time it's emotional and beautiful. My heart was wrenching literally, and when the book does it to me, it's a winner. I will definitely re-read this book and will read the other two books of Abby Zimenez IMMEDIATELY since this book was my first. I recommend this book to anyone who loves the good love story.

Heartbreaking and beautiful
Why does Abby Jimenez have to do this to us? Every single book she writes is that perfect blend of humour and gut-wrenching sadness. I wasn't sure I could handle Sloan's story after The Friend Zone stole my heart, but this was perfect. I appreciate the overarching plots that the world will throw every obstacle in your path as a couple, but you can make it work even so. It's a new version of the romance genre to me, and I don't think I can read any other books like this, because it is so good. Abby Jimenez has ruined me for other books!
