An addictive psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist that's burning up Instagram, Freida McFadden's The Housemaid is perfect for fans of Ruth Ware, Lisa Jewell, and Verity. Welcome to the family, Nina Winchester says as I shake her elegant, manicured hand. I smile politely, gazing around the marble hallway. Working here is my last chance to start fresh. I can pretend to be whoever I like. But I'll soon learn that the Winchesters' secrets are far more dangerous than my own Every day I clean the Winchesters' beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor. I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew's handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it's hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina's life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband. I only try on one of Nina's pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it's like. But she soon finds out and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it's far too late.

The Housemaid

The tension in this story is amazing, right from the beginning and it continues throughout the book. I loved the book. It was a fresh quick read. Some nice twists to go along with it. A very quick read, nothing too deep but it gets right to the point. Goes right on my favorite of all time book list. If all the author’s books are this suspenseful and well written it’s no wonder that they are so popular.

What a thrill!

Review of The Housemaid by Freida McFadden: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ The Housemaid is the kind of thriller that grabs you from the start and doesn’t let go until the very last page. The short, suspenseful chapters kept me racing forward, and just when I thought I had it figured out, the twists reminded me I absolutely did not. Like any thriller/suspenseful read, red herrings are placed everywhere and I often found myself empathizing with characters only to quickly feel rage towards them when their true motives were eventually revealed. Unsurprisingly, I felt for Millie. She’s a character who’s been dealt a garbage hand in life - betrayed, abused, dismissed - and yet she still pushed forward, relying only on herself because no one else ever truly had her back. That made her resilience and her role in the jaw-dropping climax, even more satisfying. The way the story wove in Enzo’s tragic family history and the unexpected and chilling revelation about Andrew’s upbringing made the psychological layers hit even harder. A lot of orchestrating was happening along with a lot of faith that all the moving parts would fall perfectly in place. And the shocking badassery ending really clinched it for me. The ending tied everything together brilliantly while still leaving just enough dangling threads to hook me straight into book two. I’ll admit, Andrew and Nina were infuriating in every possible way but that’s what made the tension so sharp. Dark, twisted, and addictive, The Housemaid is everything I wanted in a binge-worthy thriller and I cannot wait to watch it come to life on the big screen!

I loved Millie in this. My coworker recommended this and I could NOT put this down. I highly recommend it to others. This was a fun, dark, twisted read and can't wait to get on book two and catch this in theaters.

AMAZING!!

I really enjoyed this book, it has the right amount of everything (suspense, thriller, and even a little romance). Once I started reading I just couldn't stop. The book is also divided into 2 parts and once you get to that second part... mind is going to be blown away.
