Great Book!

I recently became an N.K Jemisin fan after reading her Broken Earth series, and she has not let me down so far! Her writing style is amazing, borderline literature! So I would say, if you are used to reading books that are not heavy and rich in storytelling and vocabulary, then it could be hard to visualise and understand her books. She is the type of author that wants to grab your attention immediately and keep hold of it until the end. This book grabbed my attention on the first page, and kept it to the end. I must say Yeine is that girl! She will absolutely be your favourite character in the book! *Side note: • Incestual relations between the gods is mentioned, as with the MC (I don’t condone this, but it is not the main point of the story). Despite this tiny section in the book, it’s a great read! • Some names and cities are difficult to pronounce, I believe some names are influenced by the Africa diaspora, however N.K. Jemisin was nice enough to cream a blog of the pronunciation of the main cities and characters. Just google “100k Kingdoms name pronunciation,” and you should see her website. For in-depth information on the name, a person on Goodreads has the audiobook, and he dictates how the audiobook pronounced the name and cities. • Once you start tho book, it’ll be hard to put it down.

woooooow, just wow!

"In the tales, such a couple lives happily ever after. The tales do not say what happens when the most powerful family in the world is offended in the process.” gonna keep this nice and concise w/ my likes and dislikes likes: -AMAZING characterization: MC, Yeine, is now one of my favorite female fantasy characters. She's brilliant, vulnerable, and oh so resilient. -Political/court intrigue: we have 3 ppl vying for the throne so that means lots of scheming, betraying, & making alliances. Lots of family drama which is a personal favorite of mine. We also have some big reveals throughout the novel that left me shooketh. -mythology!: another personal favorite of mine. this book is drenched in an extraordinarily vibrant mythos. story focuses on the quarrel of 3 gods (who are also in a relationship with one another!) -Queer Rep!: as i mentioned, we have 3 gods (m/m/f) in a relationship with one another. -Complicated Romance: i do wish that i could have had more development (i like more of an emotional connection built over time in my romances), but i was rooting for it! it was a bit forbidden and twisted, but very compelling! -Dance Ball Scene: NEED I SAY MORE!? Dislikes -Incestuous Relationships?: the gods are technically "siblings". they don't share any biological traits or bloodlines. they just so happened to be "created" by the same entity. the story also mentions that one of the "fathers" engages in sexual relations w/ his "children". even though, they are related it does feel a bit uncomfortable reading it. -MC does have sexual relations w/ a 2nd or 3rd cousin.....
