"In the tales, such a couple lives happily ever after. The tales do not say what happens when the most powerful family in the world is offended in the process.” gonna keep this nice and concise w/ my likes and dislikes likes: -AMAZING characterization: MC, Yeine, is now one of my favorite female fantasy characters. She's brilliant, vulnerable, and oh so resilient. -Political/court intrigue: we have 3 ppl vying for the throne so that means lots of scheming, betraying, & making alliances. Lots of family drama which is a personal favorite of mine. We also have some big reveals throughout the novel that left me shooketh. -mythology!: another personal favorite of mine. this book is drenched in an extraordinarily vibrant mythos. story focuses on the quarrel of 3 gods (who are also in a relationship with one another!) -Queer Rep!: as i mentioned, we have 3 gods (m/m/f) in a relationship with one another. -Complicated Romance: i do wish that i could have had more development (i like more of an emotional connection built over time in my romances), but i was rooting for it! it was a bit forbidden and twisted, but very compelling! -Dance Ball Scene: NEED I SAY MORE!? Dislikes -Incestuous Relationships?: the gods are technically "siblings". they don't share any biological traits or bloodlines. they just so happened to be "created" by the same entity. the story also mentions that one of the "fathers" engages in sexual relations w/ his "children". even though, they are related it does feel a bit uncomfortable reading it. -MC does have sexual relations w/ a 2nd or 3rd cousin.....
