2 MILLION COPIES SOLD OF THE #1 BESTSELLING SERIES! Don't miss this New York Times bestselling "impossible to put down" (Buzzfeed) novel with deadly stakes, thrilling twists, and juicy secrets — perfect for fans of One of Us is Lying and Knives Out. Avery Grambs has a plan for a better future: survive high school, win a scholarship, and get out. But her fortunes change in an instant when billionaire Tobias Hawthorne dies and leaves Avery virtually his entire fortune. The catch? Avery has no idea why — or even who Tobias Hawthorne is. To receive her inheritance, Avery must move into sprawling, secret passage-filled Hawthorne House, where every room bears the old man's touch — and his love of puzzles, riddles, and codes. Unfortunately for Avery, Hawthorne House is also occupied by the family that Tobias Hawthorne just dispossessed. This includes the four Hawthorne grandsons: dangerous, magnetic, brilliant boys who grew up with every expectation that one day, they would inherit billions. Heir apparent Grayson Hawthorne is convinced that Avery must be a conwoman, and he's determined to take her down. His brother, Jameson, views her as their grandfather's last hurrah: a twisted riddle, a puzzle to be solved. Caught in a world of wealth and privilege with danger around every turn, Avery will have to play the game herself just to survive.

Boring

tbh its just so boring, only liked the last 50 pages, I took like a month and a half to read it and usually I read like 12 books in that time so, a NO for me.

Excellent YA Novel Teens and Adults will Enjoy

I reluctantly read THE INHERITANCE GAMES by Jennifer Lynn Barnes when it was selected for my monthly library book club because I was convinced a senior citizen could not possibly enjoy a YA novel, although the librarian leading our group assured everyone she was reading this book for the third time because it is so good. Well, I was wrong and loved the book so much I finished it in record time. Ms. Barnes is a skilled writer who did a terrific job developing the book's characters and interesting plot. I especially appreciated the 91 short chapters that made it easy to stop and start reading again throughout the day. Ignore the YA category. This is a terrific book for teens and adult readers!

Great weekend read!

Really enjoyed the heroine in this. She was so well written and you could really feel her emotions. I loved how the story line and the puzzles were so well described you could picture everything as if you were there solving the puzzles yourself. So glad I have the sequel with me so I could pick it right up after I finished!

Amazing!

Such a fun read. Has everything you need: mystery, plot twists, romance, and excitement. Also, the sequel is just as good if not better!

An engaging, twisting mystery!

This story includes so many real, raw experiences that the completely wild ones don't seem all that improbable. It will make you struggle deciding whether to pause and think about the puzzle or just keep reading, but continuing on will inevitably win out. The characters are wonderfully multi-faceted right from the beginning, but they are certainly not static and those facets keep morphing and fracturing into something new throughout. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book!!!
