A Profound Journey of Self-Reflection

The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles captivates us with its engrossing story and takes us on a profound journey of self-reflection. It invites us into a world brimming with enchanting characters and unexpected detours as we accompany two brothers on their quest to find their mother in San Francisco, a destination they never quite reach. Through the power of a first-person narrative, we witness the unfolding of events as they are experienced by each character. Such a multi-dimensional approach prompts us to contemplate the nature of perception, the mysterious interconnectedness of our lives, and the profound impact our choices may have on our journeys. The Lincoln Highway is a novel that achieves everything literature should: it captivates the reader while challenging their beliefs and expanding their empathy. Its narrative mastery is matched only by the diverse perspectives it braids together, urging us to pause and acknowledge the profound impact of our ignorance concerning other people's journeys. By doing so, we gain a deeper appreciation for their experiences, which can fundamentally change how we respond in a given moment.

My First Amor Towles

I devoured this book! It was so readable. I enjoyed each character in his or her own right. It was the right amount of believable for a somewhat rollicking adventure. I enjoyed how their perspectives overlapped, drawing out the timeline, leaving me hungry for more. I imagined many ways for a sequel or spin-off to happen, though it doesn't seem to be this author's style. That said, the ending was rough. It reminded me of the end of Stranger Than Fiction where the author settles for something less than perfect to appease some unforeseen deity. That's okay: these characters will live on for me and I'm looking forward to reading more Amor Towles soon! I ordered the audiobook for my next road trip! Plan to share with loved ones.

such a great book

This was such a great book! I had put off reading it because the last time I picked up a book that had GREAT reviews, it was not so great. But this one......it defies explanation. Amor Towles drew a picture with words that is so very vivid you'll not look up from the page until it's over and done. It's an emotional trip, these characters have no idea what will go on as they start their journey. By the end, they will have all grown in ways you'd not think possible. I didn't love the ending, but I understood that it was the best way to end their story. This was such a GOOD, GREAT, EXCELLENT book, pick your own adjective, just read the book.
