The No-Fuss Family Cookbook by Ryan Scott is a fun and interesting collection of recipes for family meals. There are lots of healthy additions to traditional favourites and the personal stories that accompany many of the recipes will be enjoyed by fans of the author. That being said, those looking for quick and easy meals that are fuss-free might be disappointed. I am a cooking show junkie and I have always enjoyed Ryan Scott’s flair for making ordinary food exciting. This book has quite a few recipes that will become instant hits and there are quite a few that I am excited to try. The recipes include: Foreword: Carla Hall Introduction Breakfast and Baked Goods Salads, Soups, and Snacks Pasta Dinner Veggies and Sides Desserts ❀ SIMPLE LAYOUT The book has a simple layout and there are quite a few images to accompany the recipes. Ryan takes traditional family meals and turns them up a notch with flavour and healthy alternatives. There are also lots of notes included to give readers tips on how to achieve the best results. ❀ NOT QUITE NO-FUSS While I really enjoyed this cookbook and found it to be quite useful, the title might be very misleading to some. The idea of “no-fuss” implies that there are few steps and fast results. These recipes aren’t the fussiest ones that I have come across, but they aren’t as straightforward as I was expecting. Having to toast coconut and slice a banana to decorate the top for a banana bread recipe adds a little more time to my schedule, for sure. Admittedly, this banana bread is extremely satisfying with the inclusion of three types of coconut and packs in a lot of flavour. The next time I try it, I will avoid adding the banana to the top, as it fell out in a big clump when I tried to remove it from the pan! Thankfully, I took an image of it before it all fell apart. ❀ NEW AND INTERESTING IDEAS If you are looking for some new and interesting ideas for family meals, The No-Fuss Family Cookbook by Ryan Scott is one to try. There are some fantastic ways to shake up your routine in the kitchen with this book. Maybe not the most fuss-free recipe book out there, but it certainly has lots to offer.

Easy recipes for everyone!
To be honest, I was not at all familiar with Chef Ryan Scott before picking up this book, but he has created a beautiful cookbook with detailed but not very difficult recipes -- definitely living up to his "no-fuss" promise. There are gorgeous full-colored photographs of every dish, as well as some adorable family photos sprinkled through out. I love that there are plenty of notes and hints about the preparation of the dishes and variations on some of them. The cookbook offers a nice mix of breakfasts, dinner, and dessert dishes, and well as both vegan/vegetarian friendly and meat dishes, so there's truly something for just about everyone. I'm especially looking forward to his tomato soup and pumpkin muffins. Oh, and the Garlic Shrimp Rigatoni, and... well, I made a lot of bookmarks in this one. This is definitely a cookbook I will keep coming back to use again and again.

Not Fuss Free
I actually haven’t heard of Ryan Scott, but was still excited for this cookbook. Anything that’s got “no fuss” and “family” in the title is a win for me with a picky husband and a toddler. I really did appreciate that many of these recipes were family friendly and used real, whole ingredients. I did find some of the recipes to have a lot of ingredients for something called “no fuss” though. Overall, I think it was a decent cookbook, but nothing really “new” for us that was exciting to try.

A welcome addition to almost any kitchen
I was very happy with this cookbook. This book wasn't just about the recipes, techniques and helpful tips (although you do get all that), it has personality. The author uses his own family life to infuse this entertaining read with lots of genuineness and gives it a nice level of relatability. I liked that so much. I thought there was a solid array of recipes featured and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. The book itself is colorful and eye-catching. The photos are beautiful and the ones featuring the author and his family add a lot of charm to the book. I do wish that there had been a photo of every recipe though nutritional info would have been very welcome. The variety here is very good and I feel very strongly that you'd find something to tempt your appetite and have you heading into the kitchen. All your basic mealtimes and dessert are covered in here and many of these recipe would also work very well for brunches, snacks and lower key get togethers. I also thought it was great that notes were given on things you could do ahead and how to freeze and re-warm some things for on the go options for harried mornings. While I wouldn't necessarily call these recipes necessarily no-fuss, I do agree that they offer a wonderful simplicity that will hold a major amount of appeal for those that have a novice to a moderate level of cooking skills and families that want to get in the kitchen together. One of my favorite recipes that I have tried so far has been the Twice-Baked Denver-Style Stuffed Sweet Potatoes. Sweet potatoes and Denver omelets are two of my favorite things and I have never thought of combining the two together until this book. This recipe I think really showcases the wonderfulness of this book. It inspires you, while also offering adaptability and versatility. I feel that this book would be a welcome addition to almost any kitchen or bookshelf. This is my unsolicited and unbiased.

Good family cookbook
You'll find lots of color photos and pretty graphics in The No-Fuss Family Cookbook. Most of the recipes look really good and lean towards the healthy side of eating. For example Olive's Naturally Sweet PB&J Pancakes is a good example using healthy ingredients to prepare the recipe as you will fid whole wheat flour, bananas, peanut butter and blueberries in the recipe. Overall, this seems to be a good family cookbook based on the recipes and photos emphasizing family life. Recommend. Review written after downloading a galley from NetGalley.

Not for me
This cookbook is not for me. The recipes mostly had too many ingredients to be considered “fuss-free”, although I did notice that for the most part the ingredients were fairly commonplace and inexpensive. I appreciated all the photos, but when I think of fuss-free cooking, I’m looking for recipes that have fewer ingredients (like less than 10, including seasoning). There weren’t really any recipes I saw that looked special enough that I want to go to the trouble of making them.
