Chased from his village for a crime he did not commit, Fletcher must travel with his demon, Ignatius, to an academy for adepts, where the gifted are taught the art of summoning. Along with nobles and commoners, Fletcher endures grueling lessons that will prepare him to serve as a Battlemage in the Empire's war against the savage Orcs. But sinister forces infect new friendships and rivalries grow. With no one but Ignatius by his side, Fletcher must decide where his loyalties lie. The fate of the Empire is in his hands... Great for the first fantasy read.

Really cute! So I would recommend this to a younger audience, ages 10-12, as a first fantasy read. Overall great story and characters!

Pokemon Meets Magical Academia

Went into the book knowing only the synopsis provided on the back. Was glad to be met with a likable protagonist and interesting story. Fletcher was an enjoyable protagonist, but this is not a character driven story. It relied solely on his actions, which helped make this a quick read; there was a rhythm to the story that caused a page to be turned. I enjoyed how the world, a high fantasy setting, was presented to the reader. It gave us just enough information to understand the story here in the first book and left enough open to be discovered in the second and third.

i seriously loved this book

i truly don’t know what it was about this book that just captures me from the start. i think it’s gotten me out of my reading slump, except the only thing i NEED to read right now is the second book! it’s hard to describe how i feel about it. the ending took me by total surprise and, in turn, made finishing the book almost bittersweet. i need to get my hands on the second immediately because the last page left me, in a way, unsatisfied and full of discontent. i’m obsessed. it’s one of the books, for me, that you just wish you had the ability of reading for the first time again.

Yikes

I did not enjoy this novel in anyway shape or form. The characters are poorly written, the world building was non-existent, and the plot itself is just bland. The only reason i'm not giving it one star is because I'm gonna give the story's prose a bit of a break since it was published chapter by chapter on Wattpad, and not put together like a regular novel (This is not a diss on authors who upload their work on sites such as Wattpad and Archive of Our Own).
