50 years of an iconic classic! This international bestseller and inspiration for a beloved movie is a heroic story of friendship and belonging. No one ever said life was easy. But Ponyboy is pretty sure that he's got things figured out. He knows that he can count on his brothers, Darry and Sodapop. And he knows that he can count on his friends true friends who would do anything for him, like Johnny and Two-Bit. But not on much else besides trouble with the Socs, a vicious gang of rich kids whose idea of a good time is beating up on greasers like Ponyboy. At least he knows what to expect until the night someone takes things too far. The Outsiders is a dramatic and enduring work of fiction that laid the groundwork for the YA genre. S. E. Hinton's classic story of a boy who finds himself on the outskirts of regular society remains as powerful today as it was the day it was first published. "The Outsiders transformed young-adult fiction from a genre mostly about prom queens, football players and high school crushes to one that portrayed a darker, truer world." The New York Times "Taut with tension, filled with drama." The Chicago Tribune"[A] classic coming-of-age book".

Awesome Book! *spoiler alert!*

This book is one of the most compelling books I have ever read. It grabs you in right from the beginning and pulls you through all the way till the end. The close relationship between all the boys really shows that there more than friends, there family. The part when Jonny and Ponyboy save all the kids from the burning building is just breathtaking. The details the author includes in that scene truly gives you the ability to picture what all the characters were going through in that horrible moment. The moment in the story when Jonny dies was such an emotional time for not only the gang but for me as the reader. I felt just as distraught and defeated as the boys felt. Particularly when Dally let's the cops kill him because of how he just couldn't get over the death of his friend. I highly recommend this book to anyone who reads realistic fiction, you won't be able to put this down

I love this book!!!

This book is sooo good! I cried so much while reading it though. Despite the sobs, the book somehow made me feel connected to the story and characters as I also grew up in the south with not as much money, just like the greasers. This book is absolutely beautiful, the movie was great too! I would 100% read this book again just because of how beautiful it is. Thank you S.E Hinton for your work on writing this work of art. I appreciate you so much!

Great story, and character dynamic.

By the time I was reading this, I have never been more enticed in a character's journey and the people around them. I adore the family dynamic of Ponyboy and, not just Darrel and Sodapop, but the rest of the gang as well. Seriously a must-read.
