COMPLETE AND UNCUT EDITION! A patient escapes from a biological testing facility, unknowingly carrying a deadly weapon: a mutated strain of super-flu that will wipe out 99 percent of the world's population within a few weeks. Those who remain are scared, bewildered, and in need of a leader. Two emerge Mother Abagail, the benevolent 108-year-old woman who urges them to build a peaceful community in Boulder, Colorado; and Randall Flagg, the nefarious Dark Man, who delights in chaos and violence. As the dark man and the peaceful woman gather power, the survivors will have to choose between them and ultimately decide the fate of all humanity. Stephen King's apocalyptic vision of a world blasted by plague and tangled in an elemental struggle between good and evil remains as riveting and eerily plausible as when it was first published. This edition includes illustrations by distinguished comics and graphic novel artist Bernie Wright son. The Stand is one of Barnes & Noble's Collectible Editions classics. Each volume features authoritative texts by the world's greatest authors in exquisitely designed bonded-leather bindings with distinctive gilt edging and an attractive ribbon bookmark. Decorative, durable, and collectible, these books offer hours of pleasure to readers young and old and are an indispensable cornerstone for any home library.

First Steven King Book

1st ever Stephen King book & it won’t be the last. I loved the plot & the connections the only thing I didn’t like was how Nick died. Good story between good evil & temptation

Not very “collectible”

I’m approximately 400 pages into reading this book and the paint on the front and back covers are already very smeared. For being listed as a “collectible” version of this classic, it’s not very collectible. If I would’ve known that the quality was this poor, I would’ve spent the extra $20 difference to get the other hardcover edition that is available on the B&N website.

Wear gloves?

It's a thick book. You will be handling it a lot. By the time I was finished with it, the black cover ink had flaked off and smeared onto other parts of the front and back cover. It's a shame too. I enjoyed everything else about the book; but if I didn't care what condition it was in after I was done reading it, I could have just bought a paperback edition.

Good book, BUT

The story was really good, but copy I bought had some faded print in some parts (not badly enough to stop you from reading) also the vinyl they used for the cover art has began to peel away just from normal handling. Would not recommend spending extra for the hardcover copy.

Great story! Book quality not great.

Epic story, that everyone should read at least once in their lives. I bought this edition because I wanted a good bookshelf piece after I read it. The only problem is that I'm halfway through the book and the ink is rubbing off the back of the book. I hate to see how bad it looks by the time I'm finished. I still love it just slightly disappointed.
