Great book for actually learning how to improve.

I'm really not sure why this book gets such mediocre reviews, I feel it to be unwarranted The Tao of Chess is unique and informative, presenting a method of teaching that requires the reader to apply themselves in order to learn. This book teaches chess in principles that have to be subjective given the endless depth of chess. Each principle might not hold up to every scenario but that's what's so good about this book; it teaches you to think for yourself. If you remember each principle, you can ask yourself in the heat of the moment, "does this principle apply right now? Why or why not?" Going through this process is what makes you a better chess player. And the book also does an amazing job at extrapolating many of these principles into simple yet helpful life tips. In chess, you shouldn't launch an attack without being prepared for it and the respective fallout. In everyday life, you should weigh out your heavier life choices before making rash decisions. Just an example of the many helpful tips in the Tao of Chess.
