First published in 1908, The Wind in the Willows chronicles the adventures of four friends drawn together by their love of the Thames River valley: mild-mannered Mole, refined Ratty, solitary Badger and irascible and reckless Toad. More than a century after Kenneth Grahame first imagined his tale as bedtime stories to tell his son, The Wind in the Willows remains one of the best-loved classics of children's literature. This edition is illustrated with the full-color art of Nancy Barnhart, reprinted from the book's first American edition. The Wind in the Willows is one of Barnes & Noble's Collectible Editions classics for children. It features classic illustrations, an elegant bonded-leather binding, distinctive gilt edging and a ribbon bookmark. Decorative, durable and collectible, these books offer hours of pleasure to readers young and old and are an indispensable cornerstone for any home library.

Error on back cover

There is an error on the back cover. The quote should read “absolutely nothing” instead of “absolute nothing.”

Gorgeous Book!

It’s prettier in person! I wasn’t expecting the sparkling foil on the cover so that was a nice surprise! it will look great on display in my bookshelf!

Disappointing illustrations

The illustrations were reproduced in poor quality, fuzzy. Not very many either. If I could have seen inside before buying, I wouldn't have.
