And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie
Product details
Web ID: 15843388Brilliantly Plotted!
Few authors have the knack for bafflement as Christie. Possibly her magnum opus, And Then There Were None does what other Christie books do well, but heightens the stakes even without her famous detectives Poirot and Marple. Seriously, this book is as tight as it can get, leaving the reader in awe as they turn the last page; this is the kind of story where all of the blocks fit into place perfectly, but the solution is near impossible to figure out. Brilliant, just brilliant!

Christie's Best-Selling Novel!
"And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie is the Author's Best-Selling Novel! Eight strangers travel to secluded Soldier Island off the coast of England, each beckoned by the personal invitation of Mr. & Mrs. U.N. Owen. All believe they've been invited for a specific reason, however what one expects does not always play out as one would hope. Upon arrival to the mansion, the guests are met by Mr. & Mrs. Rogers, the butler and housekeeper. The Rogers' were also invited specifically for this event and they inform the others their hosts won't be arriving until tomorrow. After a very fine dinner prepared by Mrs. Rogers, all ten guests gather in the drawing room and hear a recorded message accusing each of them of a specific murder(s) committed in their past, not a single incident found to be a crime. All free as a bird, as they say. As shock, horror, and abundant denials reverberates throughout the room, they discover none of them knows who their host(s) could be and realize they've been snookered. All brought to the island under false pretenses by someone with a very strange agenda in mind. Before anyone leaves the drawing room, someone is already dead... "And Then There Were None", originally published in 1939, is a cleverly written and engaging mystery that has stood the test of time and kept its allure of the time period in which it was written. It is perhaps one of the most famous of the Classic Locked-Room Mystery. After reading it, there is no question, in my mind, as to why it is Christie's best-selling novel. I freely admit to taking notes to keep track of such a large cast of characters. Introductions are quick and non-stop in the beginning and impossible to keep names and details straight without my trusty little cheat-sheet. I encourage anyone who takes this one on to do the same. "And Then There Were None" is my first 'Agatha Christie Mystery', a memorable experience via audio with narrator, Dan Stevens, whose range of voicing takes on many dramatic changes giving creepy atmospheric vibes to the story and believability to all ten characters. "And There Were None" was such a fun adventure, I plan to continue with Agatha Christie's long list of mysteries. Next month I'll be reading "Hallowe'en Party" the inspiration for the new movie "A Haunting in Venice: A Hercule Poirot Mystery". It's a perfect Agatha Christie Mystery to read in October and I can't wait to meet the illustrious, Mr. Hercules Poirot! 5⭐ AND I highly recommend to readers who, like me, are interested in beginning an Agatha Christie Mystery Tour!

And Then Ther Were None
What fun with Agatha Christie’s super mystery as she indicated herself. Christie labored with this story and the reader can easily see all the nuances. Ten people arrive on Soldier Island off the coast of Devon, but none escape the island. Each of the deaths follows the lines of a child’s nursery rhyme. So who is the killer and what is the reason for these deaths? Each of the victims had previously caused the death of someone else. The killer plays judge and executioner. The story moves quickly from line to line of the rhyme. Of course, police arrive on the island too late and relate the deaths as listed by the killer in the swan song of the events as recorded in a bottle with a note. The story reads like those mysteries where the victim is locked inside a room and how does the killer escape.

I loved this read
An amazing, classic whodunit story that features an equal amount of curiosity and murder. Christie exemplifies the classic mix of horror and mystery, putting it into a book. I read this my freshman year for English, and I was so interested in it.
