I Enjoyed this book, this was my second time trying to get into this series, and lo and behold I finished the book in less than 72 hours. While I enjoyed the spice I didn't see the plot twists that came along with it, and the ending was predictable, however Alex gave me Zade vibes when he started following her and then threatening to kill any man that touched her after him, which I quite enjoyed. There was a lot going on, so it felt fast paced, you just need to give it more than 15% to get into it.

Quick Opinion 💭: A romance that didn’t quite land, but the series setup shows potential Why I Read This 📌: Recommended by my friend Natalie My Summary 📝: Alex Volkov has been hiding his past behind a cold, calculated exterior. But when his best friend asks him to keep an eye on his little sister, Ava, while he’s out of the country, he doesn’t expect to fall for the woman he’s supposed to protect. As their relationship blurs lines, keeping his secrets hidden becomes harder and breaking the “best friend’s sister” rule becomes far too easy. My Review 🩵: Twisted Love serves stronger as a mystery-mafia narrative than it does as an emotional romance, which made the book feel tonally uneven but not without intrigue. I struggled to connect with the chemistry between Alex and Ava. The emotional foundation felt weak, making the intimate moments feel more disconnected than compelling. The explicit scenes lacked any emotional grounding, which made it feel out of sync with their relationship. Alex’s characterization is often read as immature or performatively dark, which undercut the grumpy/sunshine dynamic the story was aiming for. That said, Huang’s writing includes undeniable flashes of beauty with certain lines that are emotionally resonant and poetic, though occasionally disrupted by overly modern phrasing that pulled me out of the story. Despite my mixed feelings, the setup for the next couple intrigued me enough to continue the series.

Romantic hereeee
Ava was so sweet and vivid, I could feel her energy and emotion spilling out from the pages. One of my favorite characters ever! Usually not a fan of the grumpy-sunshine trope, but she and Alex were adorable! Perfect amount of spice. Definitely read this book if you love romance!
