Save your money

The water doesn’t drain when the plug is open and the hair catcher doesn’t catch any hair. Just a lump of rubber.

It's a beautiful object with a clever mechanism, and it blends in with the tub beautifully, but it fails important functional criteria: 1 - The top portion is bowl shaped (when open), so it retains a spoonful of water after use. 2 - The bottom portion is a raised dome shape, so water below the top of the dome does not drain, leaving a puddle in the tub after use. 3 - Hair not only gets wrapped around the centre, but actually gets tightly wedged and tangled in the seam between the top and bottom. It's like untangling hair from the wheel of a toy car or from the agitator of a vacuum cleaner. Good grief. This one is automatic landfill for me unfortunately. Didn't make it past one shower. I put my old strainer back in. This should not have passed use-cycle testing.

A great tub addition

I purchased this to plug our bathtub as the original one has started to have a slow leak. This works perfectly! I also like the hair catching part as well because unlike having the drain open, this can be removed after the shower to allow the hair to dry before removing it from the catcher. No more pulling slimy hair out!! The only downside is that sometimes it will clog easily and the shower slowly turns into a bath.

It works

It looks ok and it works. The water drains slower and unless you wait for it to dry, it's kinda gross to get the hair off the plug. I prefer to do it when it's still wet, find it easier.
