Definitely shiny and will be seen but I gave them only four stars because they are pretty long for my ears. You can wear them horizontally or vertically because they have a strong well made post shaped like a stud. I wanted to wear them horizontal against my ear but they spanned across all three of my ear piercings and were too bold for my taste. They definitely would look good with a collared shirt. They are a little on the heavy side to wear horizontally, although I never tried because I returned them.
