Love
Have missed Rachel’s voice so much. This book does a wonderful job of capturing it and it is just filled with love. I wish I grew up believing these truths about God rather than believing that God was always angry and waiting for me to mess up. What a gift that Matthew Paul Turner was able to complete this book and bring it to a world that desperately needs it. This books will resonate with young and old.

A beautiful book for all ages
I love all of MPT's children's books as well as RHE's work - and this doesn't disappoint. It's beautiful both with it's words and the illustrations. I have already bought several additional copies to give away as gifts!

Amazingly Beautiful Book!
This book is a must-have for all humans - children or adults! The illustrations are gorgeous and feature children of many colors and physical builds and abilities. The words are a gorgeous description of God and God's love for all of us. I will be purchasing this book for every new parent from now on!

Exquisite!
This book is beautiful. I am a mom of two young children and I am an early childhood educator. I have used Matthew Paul Turner's books before in my classes, and this book is definitely going to be used in my future curriculum. The imagery is gorgeous. The descriptions of God are inclusive, child-friendly, AND adult-friendly. I could see the questions my young children have asked me about God as I read this book. The statements about what God is like are rooted in Scripture as well as what I have wondered about in my own imagination. The imagery by illustrator Ying Hui Tan beautifully capture the essence and wonder we all have about what God is really like. I could see the inquisitive nature of Rachel Held Evans and the beautiful, poetic style of Matthew Paul Turner as I read this book. I can tell this will be one my children ask for at bedtime on a regular basis! It will be a great gift as well!

Beautiful book and warm message
What God Likes by Rachel Held Evans and Matthew Paul Turner is an absolutely beautiful book and I am so happy to have it in my hands. The book tells of a warm, loving God who delights in us, and that’s a message we all - not just children - need to hear. The whimsical, inclusive illustrations represent the beauty of our diverse world. My son saw it sitting on the table and said, “did you get this for me because I wonder what God is like?” Yes, buddy, because we both need this book. I’m thankful that Matthew Paul Turner was able to finish what Rachel Held Evans started to bring us this lovely book.

Absolutely perfect!
"What is God Like" is extraordinary. In a loving collaboration, Matthew Paul Turner has completed the work of his friend Rachel Held Evans, who tragically died several years ago. One of the things I love about Rachel's adult writing is the depth and breadth of her discussion: she considers many different perspectives and faith traditions with an open heart and a curious, discerning mind. Amazingly, the same is true of this picture book. I think that ONLY Rachel Held Evans & Matthew Paul Turner could create a picturebook that simultaneously conveys how BIG the question of "What is God Like?" is and how MANY people have searched for answers over the years, while also answering the question with inclusivity, care, and the loving embrace of a Creator of, and for, all. This is a masterpiece. Now, I just have to read it to my kids without crying - it is that beautiful, and just what those of us who miss reading Rachel's words and love all of Matthew's books would expect. Thank you, Matthew, Thank you, Rachel, and Thank you to Rachel's husband Dan, for sharing this with the world.

Touchingly beautiful
This book is absolutely breathtaking from the beautiful imagery, poetic language, metaphors describing what God is like, the the illustrations that practically leap off of the page. This book is so desperately needed in a world where the marginalized are made to feel that Hod doesn’t love them just the way they are, this book scoops up our inner child and describes what God is like and who we can know God to be. This book was incredibly healing to my own inner child and I plan to read it often to my children.

Lovely
What is God like? ...think about what makes you feel safe, what makes you feel brave, and what makes you feel loved. That's what God is like. I am a huge fan of Rachel Held Evans and Matthew Paul Turner and ordered this book the day it was announced! Three months later it's here and it's every bit as lovely and profound as I imagined. Everyone needs a copy of this book on their shelf!
