This is an intense story. I love the dynamics that the author creates. The world building is beautifully done. The motivations behind the Mac’s touches my heart and it’s hard to know who to root for. It was so heart touching watching the relationship grow as it did. The challenges that the FMC had to face. Such a powerful story. I absolutely loved it!

Fantastic Fantasy Series
I love this author. Great series. This is the third and I will order the others.
Love this series!!
If someone can tell me where I can find my own Patroclus that will sit on my couch wearing his glasses and reading on his kindle that would be great. A reverse haram happening in the midst of a Hunger Games esq. completion? Sign me up. This book was so fun and spicy to read. I mean I binge read it in a day soooo I loved all three characters so much. They were all so unique and they balanced one another out in the best way. I can’t wait to see what else Katee Robert comes up with in the world of Olympus!

The Best So Far!
This book is my current favorite of Kate Robert’s Dark Olympus series! After Helen’s cameos in the first two books, especially in Electric Idol, I was thrilled when her story was announced as the next book. Helen, Patroclus, and Achilles each are beautifully written characters on their own, but their relationship is one for the ages. I loved the dynamic and conversations between the self-proclaimed triad and loved how they were willing to put each other before their own political goals. Finally a Greek mythology retelling that ends happily for Helen of Troy! This story is one you don’t want to miss! I can’t wait to see what Katee Robert does next! Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for originally providing me with the first five chapters in exchange for an honest review. Those chapters made me eager to get my hands on the finished version!

Helen of Troy Updated!
Honestly I like the first two books of the series much better. The plot is good but it just didn't have the heart the other books had. It is worth exploring the relationship dynamics and makes me want to read the 4th book,

steamy retelling of Helen of Troy, Achilles, etc
My Review: 3.5/ 5 rounded up 18+ This is the 3rd installment to Katee Robert’s Neon Gods series. It’s a modern retelling of the ancient story of Helen of Troy, Patroclus, and Achilles. Similar to the first books, the ancient Greek mythology ends there, in name only. Helen covets the title of Ares, but her brother Zeus (Perseus) doesn’t agree. Instead there will be a competition amongst warriors to earn the title, and also win Helen’s hand in marriage. Helen also enters the competition to win her own hand and get the title for herself despite the dismay of her family and friends. On the other hand, Achilles (mostly) and Patroclus also vy for the title but they both seem to not keep their hands off Helen. Despite all the steaminess, Helen has to figure out if they both mean to be with her if she is Ares, or if it was just a scheme to get her to lower her guard. This one is definitely much better than the first one, Neon Gods. Katee Robert is a master at the steamy scenes, and they all have insatiable chemistry. I didn’t read the 2nd book Electric Idols, and found that I still had no problem catching up. The competition reminds me of Hunger Games meets Harry Potter’s triwizard tournament - minus the fun clues. The story is predictable, but that’s not why you are reading this. The dialogue is lacking and slightly cheesy, and I wished there was more to their names than just that. Also, the timeline really irks me when they go from hating each other to being madly in love. Thank you to Sourcebooks and netgalley for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review. Tropes: enemies to lovers; lbgtq+romance; poly, forced proximity Spice Level: 4/5

Sexy AND a great plot!
I'll admit, I came into this one with kinda low expectations. I really enjoyed Neon Gods (book 1) and the modernized world of Olympus being presented. But after Electric Idol (book2), I was already getting tired of the series. Book 2 just felt WAY too much like book 1 to me. So, I started Wicked Beauty already having decided that if there couldn't be something different, I was going to end up walking away from the Dark Olympus series. Side note: I read this as an audiobook, as I have the entire series, and I absolutely LOVE Zara Hampton Brown and Alex Moorcock as narrators. Thankfully, Wicked Beauty did in fact break out of the relationship structure that both Neon Gods and Electric Idol both seemed to follow. Not only because of the poly relationship, but because the characters themselves were different than we'd seen before. Neither Achilles or Patroclus were "unlovable monsters" and Helen was not a girl just trying to find a way to live her own life under the thumb of Olympus. I was also pleasantly surprised by the overall plot. Instead of someone spending the whole book trying to kill our female MC, we are treated to the competition to name the next Ares. And I loved the action that the competition brought. As individual characters, I immediately loved Helen and Patroclus. Helen is strong, knows exactly what she wants, and is willing to fight for it. Patroclus is just plain lovable. Achilles took more warming up to and I don't think I ever really loved him, but he was the perfect match for this trio. Although it took me some time to even support this relationship. There was even a point where I was even considering DNFing. Open and poly relationships may not be something I have any experience with, but regardless of the type of relationships in this book, trust needs to play an important role. And the trust in Achilles and Patroclus' relationship was messed with the moment Helen walked in and that was never truly dealt with. From where I'm sitting, there was actual betrayal and it was just glossed right over. I nearly gave up on the book (and the series) when I realized that wasn't going to be addressed in any meaningful way, but overall I'm glad I kept going. I may not like how their relationship started, but I was fully behind these three and their happiness by the end. Overall, a 3.5/5 that I'm rounding up for the quality of the narrators. Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for providing me with an audio galley in exchange for an honest review.
