Strong odor upon receipt of product

I love the sweatshirt, the color purple & the design, however, it took a few washings to get rid of the strong odor. I believe this is from the silkscreening process or the sweatshirt material? I am uncertain. If you are sensitive to chemical smells I would not recommend this product.
