Great dress but weird ruching and choppy hem

Love the dress styling - it's very flattering and a comfortable material. However, the bottom of the dress was unhemmed and looked like someone took scissors and cut it off. It's was slightly jagged, fraying, and unfinished, and there was no slit like in the photo. Very odd! Additionally, I'd prefer that there was no ruching above the rear end area - felt that it would look classier without that. All that being said, I'm keeping it and taking it to my local tailor to have the bottom of the dress hemmed properly.
