Elvira
A three, a four, heck I just don't know. A very campy autobiography about the life of Cassandra Peterson the iconic Elvira. I don't know if she actually wrote this herself or with the help of a ghost writer to pull it all together, but it is both entertaining and sad at times. That said it did seem sloppily put together. When I first started reading, I quickly had enough of her corny jokes, I know that's her style; but it was so annoying that I had to set the book aside for a while. Very close that early on to making it a DNF. Elvira's story was a New York Times Bestseller, but I got the feeling that it was just because she names every famous person that she screwed or almost did. That's usually the ticket for a celebrity bestseller. Jumping back into her life and continuing to read her story it really is quite the story. The degradation she suffered at the hands of her mother, the struggles to achieve the fame she so desperately wanted and at so many times the sexual harassment she endured and struggled through, the boyfriends, the failed marriage and her final pairing with a woman who really loves her certainly makes for quite a read. A pretty good story and she does a nice job of wrapping it all up at the end. I guess I would recommend it if you were an Elvira fan, if you're not you might want to pass on it.
