I had a pressure cooker that was over 30 years old and I loved it cuz I was familiar with it. It had the value that jiggled as it reduced pressure......so.......this is very different to get use to. I was gabbing w/ a friend on the phone and placed carrots in my old one, without water, lol. Well, I heard this little poof and low and behold.....a sprinkle of this silver mercury type material decorated my kitchen walls, cabinet, stove and me! So, I will be very careful with this one. I love making rutabaga & carrots in a pressure cooker...keeps their color bright and has amazing flavor, compared to boiling. Happy cooking!
