Buckles are a Bite

I love Gladiator sandals and own several pairs.I needed a new brown pair and these fit the bill perfectly. I recently brought them with me on a vacay to wear with a swing dress and boy was that a mistake. The inside of the metal buckle (backside hitting my ankles) started to rub against my ankle as I was walking. I loosened the strap thinking maybe they were too tight. That did not solve the issue. I literally maybe walked a half hour total in these sandals and the buckles dug into my ankles, breaking the skin, leaving two red marks which eventually healed. A week later, and I still have the marks to prove it. They are very cute sandals but not worth the wear and tear on my ankles. Unfortunately, I probably can't return them due to the fact that I wore them once. I may try to cover the back of the metal buckles with something to see if that helps just so I can wear them again. I would not recommend these sandals.
