The drive performs well and the included software for burning DVDs is quite intuitive and efficient. The downfall is that ASUS does not seem to support this drive or, once past registration, even acknowledge that it exists. At one point exploring their site one has to pick the product type from drop down menus. If you want information past that point you are sunk since nothing in the list even hints at optical drives or CD, DVD or Blu Ray readers or burners.

Warning!!!
I used the writer one time & a lot later I tried to use it again but it wouldn't work. I've been working with ASUS but it looks like I'm going to be sending it to them for warranty service. I would not buy a BW-16D1X-U the cost is to much for one time use!

Bad Buy
I found the flyer disappointing as well as the Asus online support. At first the player worked a limited extent, but after following support advice it does not work at all.

Built well, just plugged it in and Windows 11 picked it up straight away and it has written every disk I have thrown at it.

Don't waste your money!
Worst cd-rom out there! Cannot play movies and will NOT autostart to play anything! Truly lousy machine! Also, support for this product online is virtually nonexistent! I couldn't locate any assistance for this product on their website!
