Great value but keyboard features fall short
This laptop replaced a 8-1/2-year-old MSI GS63VR 6RF Stealth Pro that didn't meet Microsoft's requirements for Windows 11. Most of what I do on my home computer is done in a web browser, and it still seemed to work fine for that, but I figured it was time to replace it. My son and wife both bought ASUS laptops relatively recently and they were happy with them, so I decided to give the brand a shot. With laptops I have owned in the past, I added RAM and replaced hard drives to improve performance and extend their useful lives. I hope 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage is enough to last me, as it seems like these are not replaceable. I'm happy with the screen. It is as big as the MSI and at least as bright. The build quality seems good, which is something I was worried about. I haven't fully tested the battery life, but it blows away what I had before, so I'm really excited about that. I'm not the audiophile I was in my younger years, but music sounds pretty good on the built-in speakers. I love the huge trackpad. The feel of the keyboard isn't as nice as the steelseries keyboard on my MSI, but it's not bad. My two main complaints about the computer are the narrow number pad with non-standard layout and the anemic keyboard backlighting. I don't know if the material of the keys isn't translucent enough, or if it's the thin-stroke of the typeface used on the keys, but the backlighting is very weak, especially compared to what I was used to with the MSI.

Performance
Screen, Keyboard, performance are better than I expected. If a game is running and left tabbed out and idle for 10 mins, laptop gets very slow for some reason. If game is being played, no issues. Valorant Max settings is 180-200fps. High RAM allows me to play heavy modpacks in minecraft at 120 fps no problem. Can run every fps game with great frames. Screen refresh rate gives smooth experience. Great customization features. Lightweight and thin laptop. I really like the OLED screen. Battery time good. I can watch 3-4 movies on battery life no problem. I haven't experienced any problems yet. I received mine 4 days ago.

ASUS Vivobook S15 – A Smart Choice

Excellent laptop
Very powerful for a thin and light laptop. Can run AAA games on standard settings just fine. Also does a great job running CAD software. I don’t think there’s a better thin and light laptop with these specs for that price

Required hard reset after three days.
After three days the Laptop would not power on. Had to call support and do a hard reset. it came back up. If this happens again I will be warranting it.
