The Best Carry-On I’ve Owned—After 10+ Years of International Travel

I’ve been working as an international sales manager for over 10 years, so I’ve gone through more than my fair share of luggage and carry-ons—both for work and family travel. After the wheels on my last carry-on literally fell apart while going through customs at LAX, I knew it was time for a replacement. I was on the fence between the Briggs & Riley Global 21” and another high-quality brand. I was actually ready to purchase the other option, but it wasn’t in stock and wouldn’t arrive in time for my next trip, so I went with this one—and I’m very glad I did. The external handle design that doesn’t intrude into the packing space makes a noticeable difference, especially when packing shoes. Every pocket feels thoughtfully designed and easy to access while traveling. The wheels roll smoothly and make it effortless to move through the airport with one hand—whether I’m holding a cup of coffee or my child’s hand with the other.

Excellent although a different olive

I recently bought the Baseline Global 21" Carry-On Expandable Spinner in olive, adding to the Medium 2 wheeled, (extra) Large 2 wheeled, and Traveller tote than I already have in olive. I bought the Global Carry-On as I expect to travel around Europe soon. The Global 21” worked perfectly on a recent overnight, in country trip - surprisingly spacious. I have given it 4* instead of 5 as the olive colour of this new Baseline carry on is different to my other items - it is less green and more brown.

another winner in Baseline set

This will be given as a Christmas gift so hasn't been used yet. However, the matching larger piece of Baseline luggage has been used and enjoyed. It is well made on the inside and outside.

Eliminate carry on anxiety

I’ve had my eye on this bag for a while. Yea, it is costly, but so are most buy-it-for-life products. I travel internationally and opted for the global 21 to avoid potential headaches while abroad. I also read that the dimensions make the internal space feel larger. The compression system is a gift from the heavens. The first few times I would pack it high and question whether it would actually compress. Now I have no doubts. The bag is quite heavy while empty, so lifting it into overhead bins for more petit frames could be a challenge. Overall 10/10.

First Trip
