A friend just gave me this table with the matching chairs and I'm pinching myself. I always admired this table and she was downsizing. I searched for it to figure out how much to offer her for it as she wouldn't say. I can't stress how elegant and functional but not fussy this table is enough. The self storing leaf is amazing and moves smoothly after all these years (she had it about 4 years?) And her few times yearly dinner parties. It's beautiful like glass but sturdy like a solid table. My kids were just sitting on it and I wasn't nervous at all. My dad hates glass tables and I'd bet money my parents will buy this set when they see it at holiday time. I almost hate that I have a custom farm table on the way! This will still be showcased beautifully as our casual table. Some casual table! I highly recommend this table and I'd say you might want to get the whole set too.
extension made of cheap particle board
the table is attractive. however, the extension that is hidden away under the tabletop is comprised of particle board that easily cracks away. After a year of moving the extension in and out a few times that i started to hear the metal pins stressing the fabricated wood. Eventually the small 3-inch pins that guided the extension in and out of position snapped through the extension, making it worthless. no more 12' table for dinner parties. A better construction would be to run a full rod through the extension, and not tiny pins.

I love this table. It was delivered in just 5 days after ordering it. It was packaged extremely well. It was made with extreme precision. It is of great quality. We like the glass top and the way the extension leaf is stored below the table top and with simply pushing the top to one side and sliding the extra extension leaf out. We like the color and quality of the wood. The chairs fit the table size. We did purchase the Worry No More protection plan to cover the cost if the glass was to get damaged. We did find this table by visiting Macy's in Manchester NH. If you were to order on-line, I don't think you would be disappointed.
