I like to have hard boiled eggs on hand for a low cal nutritious snack, and this pot is big enough for 4 or 5 eggs and deep enough to cover them with water without having to wastefully heat up a big pot. The strainer lid was a bonus feature, so I'm also using the pot to cook a serving or two of pasta without having to get out a colander to drain it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Contrary to some other reviews, the handle does NOT get hot if you choose a gas burner whose flame circumference is not larger than that of the sauce pan itself! In other words, don't use a flame that heats the handle, use one that heat the body of the pan!

The metal handle stays cool to the touch even after simmering on the stove for a while. I would definitely recommend buying this item.
