CLOSEOUT! Ball Multifloor 2 Upright Vacuum

Web ID: 4559276Will not work on carpet
Got this in the mail yesterday and tried it out right away. The suction is so strong, it will NOT roll forward or backwards on the carpet. It won't let us push it or pull it. We are strong people so it is a great disappointment. It works on floors and area rugs well, but not on carpet.

Not the best machine
So far, we have had to have this vacuum taken back to Dyson for a head replacement twice. Had we known this was such a faulty machine we would have never purchased in the first place. Warranty or not, it's not worth it.

Frustrating
Did anyone at Dyson actually test this vacuum on multi carpets before putting them on the shelf? Does good on throw rugs that’s at no more than a half inch.

Hello Mark, Thank you for your review. This is Miella from Dyson. We're sorry to hear of your frustration with your Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 upright machine. The Ball Multi Floor 2 is designed to work on both carpet and hard flooring, with the filaments on the direct-drive brushbar grabbing hair and debris and dirt from hard flooring and delving deep into carpet fibers for ground-in dirt. Dyson vacuum cleaners are suitable for most flooring and carpet types. However, we are unable to test our machines on every flooring permutation out there. Therefore, we always recommend that you contact your carpet/flooring retailer/manufacturer before using your new Dyson or any other vacuum cleaner. Some have recommendations and restrictions based on suction power, brushbar and even brand. We'd value the opportunity to learn more about your experience with your Dyson as we'd like to help ensure you are having a 5-star experience. Please feel free to reach out to us at askdysonUS@dyson.com, and we will be in touch. Best Wishes, Miella Dyson Customer Support
What an engineering fiasco
I have had a couple of Dyson models. I won't have any more. This one is a nightmare. I can't believe they are selling these. The Dyson Ball (Yellow) is a pain. First, you have to beg it to stand upright. It is pretty laughable that I have to back it up to a wall for it to stay upright and not fall on my floor. It has been that way from day one. Their advertising about not losing suction is pretty funny. I have never had a brand of vacuum that needed taken apart more often to be cleaned out. Any vacuum because of it's job will need some cleaning out. Don't act like these don't lose suction. They certainly have major problems caused by their design. Putting the hose back after using attachments is a pain also. This again is difficult and not engineered well. I am starting to think that kids designed this and not engineers. Hope somebody got to look for a new job over this model for sure. My first model of Dyson vacuum was ok. Nothing to write home about. Wish I still had that one, as this newer one is terrible. I will probably put this on the curb and hope some sucker takes it. I look forward to buying another brand. I would never advise a friend to buy a Dyson.

Hello, Thank you for your review. This is Miella from Dyson. We're sorry to hea of your experience with your Ball Multi Floor 2. There will generally be two clicks that you should get when putting the vacuum into the upright position. These clicks are not always noticeable unless put into the upright position at a slower speed. I would recommend putting the unit into the upright position at a slower pace in order to listen to the clicks that occur in order to troubleshoot the problem. One click will be the wheels of the vacuum going into place. The second click will be the wheels locking into place. It is important to ensure the second click occurs as without the second click, stabilizer wheels are not able to lock securely into place. Routine maintenance is required to ensure the Ball Multi Floor 2 is in optimal performance. This includes cleaning the brushbar, washing the filter, etc. The maintenance is outlined in the user manual for easy reference, and we also have the steps (and videos) online on the Dyson Support page. We'd value the opportunity to learn more about your experience with your Dyson as we'd like to help ensure you are having a 5-star experience. Please feel free to reach out to us at askdysonUS@dyson.com, and we will be in touch. Best Wishes, Miella Dyson Customer Support
A must buy for ALL HOMEOWNERS
I've been using the V8 Cordless for the last few years but because I moved into a two story home, I needed something that would be more applicable to me. I still use the V8 for the rooms upstairs, but for downstairs, this baby does it all. High powerful suction with a very long cable and extendable hose. I can reach every crevice of the ground floor without having to unplug and find another outlet. I still do that at my parents house using another branded vacuum. I'm seriously considering buying another one just to make their lives easier. I have no complaints with this vacuum, filters are reusable and just needs a wash, on top of the 5 Year Parts and Labor Warranty. For the price, its just a no-brainer.

Sucks and I mean Literally
I’m returning this piece of crap asap. Cannot push it on standard carpet. I expect much more when spending this much on a vacuum. Unless you have hardwood floors and carpet that’s thick as a sheet of paper don’t waste your money. I can’t believe that this wasn’t caught during the engineering process. You can read on google (which I wish I would’ve done prior to buying) that this is a very common problem.

Hello, this is Kelly with Dyson. I am so sorry to see from your review that you have experienced some issues with your Ball Multi Floor 2. It's definitely disappointing to hear that this wasn't a 5-star expeerience for you. Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 offers 245 air watts of powerful suction, along with our Dyson Ball technology, which makes it easier to steer into different places with a simple turn of a wrist. Your machine will also feature a wand and extension hose for use with cleaning up high, under furniture and in hard to reach areas. The cleaner head is self adjusting, so it will automatically raise and lower to seal in suction across all floors. Sometimes issues can arise, where the brush bar will stop spinning, if the brush bar senses your carpeting fibers as an obstruction. This shuts off the brush bar motor, to prevent the motor from overheating. Another issue that can arise, is that the machine will feel hard to push. Thus is due to the machine's suction forming an air tight seal between the cleaner head and the floor. It's usually more common on thicker, more plush carpeting, carpets with thicker padding underneath or even area rugs. While I understand you are intending to return your purchase, we'd value the opportunity to learn more regarding your experience, as we're dedicated to customer satisfaction. Please consider emailing us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com. We look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
BIG DISAPPOINTMENT
I was compelled to accept the Dyson Multi Floor 2 vacuum cleaner when the motor on my Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal went out and had to be replaced. Unfortunately, Dyson was out of stock with both a replacement motor and a replacement device and I had very little choice but to accept the Multi Floor 2 as a comparable replacement (price-wise, they are they same, but that's where the resemblance ends). The Multi Floor 2 is fine if ALL YOU WANT TO DO IS CLEAN FLOORS. However,I have 6 pets and there is a lot of hair to pick up and this appliance has no real ability to perform such a function. Consequently, I felt compelled to purchase an additional vacuum cleaner to specifically pick up pet hair but, to my disappointment, it doesn't clean as well as the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal and there are no pet hair attachment (I'll talk about the attachment in a minute) so I now have 2 vacuum cleaners and I'm still not getting the house as clean as I could get it with the previous cleaner. In addition to there being no attachments that are useful for pet hair, in order simply use the attachments you have to completely unwind the electrical cord in order to access the hose that you use in conjunction with the attachment and the hose itself requires a fair amount of physical strength to pull it out to a length that is useful. I am not happy with this device and, had I known its deficiencies, I probably would have just gone and purchased a vacuum cleaner from a different company than be saddled with this piece of crap. I would not recommend this to anybody who wants to keep their home seriously clean.

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. I was sorry to read through your review, and to learn of your experience. I did look over your account, and see that you had your canister in for service, and as it needed a new motor, which was also unfortunately out of stock, the machine was exchanged with the only available option - which at the time was the Ball Multi Floor 2 upright. I did also see that you've been in touch with us, to get this upright exchanged for a canister model, which you previously had. I'm happy to see that you were able to get in touch with us as we work together to resolve this for you. If you have any other questions or concerns for us in the meantime, don't hesitate to get back in touch. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
No height adjustment - roller fails on carpeting
The roller on this thing digs itself in to our carpeting very hard, stalls, snags and stops spinning constantly. It's not what I'd call thick carpeting either. It's apparently impossible to control the height. We just tried it for the first time since assembling a month ago and didn't keep the box. Didn't realize a vacuum could be this bad. I can't believe this design made it to store shelves.

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you're having some issues with your Ball Multi Floor 2 being hard to push in your home. The Multi Floor 2 features Dyson ball technology, which allows for easy navigation with the turn of a wrist. The cleaner head on this machine is self-adjusting, meaning that it raises and lowers to seal in suction across all floors. Ultimately, the machine being hard to push will likely be the result of suction forming an air tight seal between the cleaner head and the floor. Our machines do have a higher level of suction power. While this works well for a majority of carpets, there are select fibers that may not be compatible. The air seal would be limited due to the suction that the machine provides. While we don't expect issues to occur, Dyson does back your new machine from an authorized retailer with a free 5-year guarantee. We would value the opportunity to assist you, to help ensure your Dyson is working properly. Please feel free to contact us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com. We are keen on providing you with support and learning more about your experience. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
