Spotty rust. Need griddle or grill not pans

I have not used cast iron before but when I washed this grill press (used mild dish soap and water Not a dishwasher), it appeared to rust. I wiped it down and the rust/brown spots seemed to go away. I have not used it since. Also note, it is 9". It will not fit in a large frying pan/skillet if you have a set of pans (sm, med, lg) with sides. Bottomline: Probably good for using on a "grill or griddle" that's extra large but does not work in regular cookware. I am disappointed with this Cuisinart purchase but Macy's had it on sale and I've already washed it so it's not worth returning. Perhaps I'll purchase a griddle and try frying bacon and use this press with that.

Great, heavy cast iron

I love this cast iron grill press! It's heavy enough to really clamp down bacon, sandwhiches, you name it, but no too heavy to store in my kitchen. I love the sturdy handle and solid design. This product will last me years to come. I also enjoy that it's cast iron so that the iron can season and naturally be nonstick over time. 10/10 would recommend!

Husband loves it

My husband has been wanting a grill press for quite sometime now. He is really enjoying this one. He says the meat is cooking faster and more evenly and is more flavorful! Which with a large family like us is a huge deal.

Made very well

It works great tried it with bacon and it helped the bacon not curl and it straightened the bacon in a strip which was excellent, also I used it for steak and I got perfect grill marks. Overall this iron press is great the handle is very firm to hold on to and to press with. The material of the cast iron feels very durable, it’s easy to use, very handy for anything u want pressed, and also easy to clean!

Great addition to the kitchen!

This is one of those kitchen (or grill) accessories that you don't usually intend to just go out and purchase, but it's certainly worth buying! I've used this grill press in a variety of ways and it has impressed me every time. The weight is just enough to do the job, but not so heavy that it is a chore to keep up with, clean, etc. The handle is comfortable and ergonomic. My only complaint is that I've been doing way too much cooking in the past without having this in my arsenal!
