Cinetic™ Big Ball Animal Allergy Upright Vacuum

I've had this vacuum for a while now, it was gifted to us as a wedding gift. The suction is great and the cord is long, however, there are two inconveniences that drive me nuts. #1 it will not pick up any of my cats food as the pieces are "too big"... for this vacuum at least. Our last vacuum we were able to actually raise and lower the deck of the vacuum for different depths of flooring/carpet which was nice because it would suck up the cat food - however the suction on that vacuum was nowhere near as good as the dyson. My 2nd gripe is that if you want to just use the hose you have to undo the ENTIRE cord because of the way its mounted. So, sometimes I just want to get in-between a crevice real quick and have to undo the cord just to wrap it all back up again. Overall great vacuum, it's super easy to take apart and clean too.

THEY HAVE NO DYSON ANYTHING
I am a Bloomingdales fan and I can't believe they don't have Dyson.

Not good on hard surfaces, poor suction
I was so excited to get this Dyson. I have a cordless Dyson and absolutely adore it. This misses the mark. Does great on carpet and area rugs but has terrible suction and pickup ability on hard floors. I finished an area but noticed some hard-to-reach areas, so I grabbed my cordless Dyson (it has the laser on the front to show all the nasty stuff like dog hair), and the area I JUST went over with the Big Ball still had all kinds of dog hair (I have two Great Danes) and tiny crumbs that should not be an issue. So far very disappointed and will most likely be returning.

Great
We’ve had the Ball Animal 2 for about 3 years, and it’s been wonderful. Recently we decided to go with a new one and got the Big Ball. It’s been phenomenal. We’ve got two huskies and this thing picks up fur we never would’ve known was there. It’s been amazing

great suction
I bought this a month ago. The suction is fantastic but the rest I am actually wanting to return it. I thought for the money the bagless part wouldn't be an issue. Well, there is always dust on the outside of the vacuum after using it. We have a german shepherd and the fur gets picked up good. But the vacuum itself has dirt in the cracks that I can't get out and I have to clean the canister each time because the way it opens makes the rubber seal dirty and it won't seal as well

Not a fan
I had the very first (non big ball) dyson animal. It was a great workhorse (3 dogs, 2 cats, outdoor lifestyle). We moved so I gave it to a friend. Bought a new cinetic big ball animal plus. We All hate it. Hair gets plugged up especially in the back part of the canister. It doesn’t matter whether empty it partially full or not. No matter what dyson says, this is a huge faulty design issue. After cussing at this expensive vacuum cleaner for 6 years, I am saying goodbye to Dustin vacuum cleaners and went with another smaller cordless brand. Yes I’ll need to empty the canister MUCH more often but at least I don’t have to dig out hair dust etc. …sorely disappointed.

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We were thrilled to hear what a work horse your first Dyson was for you. That's the exact type of performance we would expect from one of our machines. It's disappointing to hear that we've missed the mark with the Cinetic Big Ball Animal + Allergy vacuum. Dyson Cinetic machines are our first machines to feature no filters to wash or replace, thanks to the oscillating Dyson Cinetic tips located in the cyclone pack. With regard to finding debris getting trapped in the bin, the bin of your vacuum will have a MAX fill line to indicate when it is full and time to empty. We generally will recommend emptying your bin by at least the top MAX line that the bin has. I did see you touched on this in your review. Generally, if debris fills past this line, it can wind up getting trapped in the upper portion of the bin. Having said that, the clear portion of your bin does remove for optional maintenance if desired. It does sound like you're no longer using this machine, however we do value your feedback. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get back in touch with us again at askdysonUS@dyson.com. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
After 18 months, not worth the money
Bought my vacuum almost 2 years ago. After about 18 months it lost suction when used as upright. Hose worked fine, took it apart about 20 times looking for a clog & troubleshooting. Couldn’t find a thing. As a house with 2 dogs who shed quite a bit this is very disappointing. For the price I am not happy. I would rather have bought a cheaper machine and replaced. I think my old vacuum worked much better. It was not a Dyson. Yes, it is u set warranty so I can drag it to UPS have them pack and ship and wait 2 weeks for it to be returned. Kind of a long time to wait for someone who vacuums a few times a week.

Have had for 2 years and not a fan
I bought my Dyson Cinetic Animal Allergy vacuum at the end of 2019. I had an Animal before and loved it! I wish I could say the same for this one as well. It has FANTASTIC suction; but sadly, it's way too strong and there's no way to adjust it. I have hardwood floors, and it's great for those, but forget it on carpet or rugs. I have 3 very low pile rugs, and can only use this vacuum on 2 of them. The suction is too strong and the brush bar stops working. I've tried just with suction and no bar, but it just sticks and is nearly impossible to move. FORGET even trying to vacuum small rugs by the doors; I have to turn the machine off to release the suction to move the machine. The best I can do is keep half the vacuum off the rug and just get the edges. I have never attempted to carry it upstairs where we have actual carpet because I'm sure I won't be able to use it at all up there, and still have my old Animal that works well so it does the upstairs. I would also add that this machine is pretty heavy so I wouldn't want to hike it up and down stairs. I was stuck between giving it one or two stars, because it really does have great suction, but I do regret my purchase so had to go with one.

Response from Dyson
Hello, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for your review of the Cinetic Big Ball Animal + Allergy. Our Cinetic upright vacuum features ball technology, with a central steering mechanism, for greater control and no awkward moves. They are also our first machines to feature no filters to wash or replace, thanks to the oscillating Dyson Cinetic tips located in the cyclone pack. The Dyson Cinetic is a heavier machine; one thing that you may notice, however, is the brush bar of your machine may help to move the machine along the carpet due to the natural rotation of the brush bar. When taking your machine from room to room it's recommended to roll the machine on the large ball; if you try to lean the machine back to roll on the smaller balls, the machine will recline. When carrying up stairs, the machine can be carried; I generally suggest one hand on the cyclone handle and one on the wand handle. I was sorry to hear that you're having some trouble with the machine on your low pile rugs. The cleaner head on this machine is self-adjusting, meaning that it raises and lowers to seal in suction across all floors. Ultimately, the machine being hard to push will likely be the result of suction forming an air tight seal between the cleaner head and the floor. While we don't expect issues to occur, Dyson does back your new machine from an authorized retailer with a free 5-year guarantee. We would value the opportunity to assist you, to help ensure your Dyson is working properly. Please feel free to contact us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com. We are keen on providing you with support and learning more about your experience. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
