This ring fate color

It's been a couple of months since I purchased this from Macy's as a gift, and it is so embarrassing to find out today from my friend that the silver color is fading and changing into rust. Forget about the embarrassment, this is not a Macy's standard as sterling silver, and I paid a lot of money for this. It's hard to believe that I have brought a fake ring from Macy's. I need a reimbursement.
